Thread Topic: What are your beliefs?
-
This is not a place for debate, just a place for everyone to share their personal beliefs and get support from other users. All belief systems are valid here
-
I am nonconformist. I strongly disagree with aligning myself with any one belief. I enjoy exploring different belief systems though. My current beliefs draw a low from Buddhism though.
Here's some of core things I believe in:
•manifesting--you create your own version of reality
•souls exist
•everything is spiritually connected
•naturalism & herbalism
•kindness
•there is no defined purpose of life
•connect with & celebrate nature & life
•chakras & karma
•magic is just science we don't understand yet & vice versa. (Quantum mechanics is big proof of this imo) -
Ngl I find the "magic is just science we don't understand yet" bit very idk how to describe it, but like I just want to take those words and keep them because I like them so much
I love it so much when people say science is magic because it makes it feel special and gives me more motivation to struggle through chemistry with my two ounces of brain -
Oh and for the sake of the thread's purpose I'm Christian! I believe in Jesus as my Lord and Saviour and I personally think that religion and science aren't against each other, but that they coexist perfectly
-
Most of the bible does point a lot to science

Sooo I was raised Catholic and then diverted from that and went into witchcraft and would now consider myself to be a mix of them if that makes any sense. I am more of a spiritual person than a religious one, and I do believe in god yet also reincarnation. I believe that all life is precious and that we should treat each other with kindness no matter what someone else might think or feel or believe in.
All religions are very similar and I don’t think there is a wrong or a correct one, but rather one (or a few) that works best for the individual person. -
I'm an atheist, but also entertaining the notion that if there are any gods, they have always been humanity. I don't know to what extent I believe that, because sometimes I regard it as an ironic joke, while other times I think about it a little too long and it makes sense to me. I'll try to explain my thought process a bit.
Every human is their own god. We see it in our convictions, but also in our hypocrisy. We see it in the kindness we share with strangers, and in our cruelty. Some people just want to help others, at their core. Others are purely self-serving. Every type of god we read about is so much like us, so remarkably human.
We pray to what we hope is there, above us, to fix the world, but that power and that responsibility will always fall back on us. We have all the tools we need to end war, end world hunger, end racism and theft and sickness. Humanity is so unbelievably afraid of that burden. It's a lot for each individual to think about, too much to handle, because they were never meant to address these things all alone. I think that's why we pray, in hopes that someone stronger and smarter than us will hand us the key.
Every religion has a holy book full of stories and rules to follow. People that don't subscribe to these idols make up their own. We all need a code to follow. I think the fact that atheists have strong convictions and moral compasses just like anyone else is evidence that the books are just stand ins. Humans pick and choose which rules from their books to follow, assemble patchwork commandments and live their lives all the same. They know what they stand for.
Sorry if this isn't making sense lmao
I'm typing in a hurry and also? this is still just a half-baked thought -
I'm currently an atheist, but I've been looking into other religions/practices.
-
I try not to confine myself to one particular religion, but I do identify as Christian. I feel though that sometimes terminology is just too broad, and the only way to describe your beliefs to another is to share them.

I’m a Christian: I believe that Jesus died on the cross to save me from my sin and when I die I will not go to hell, but live forever in heaven with Him. <3
Sadly I know not all people who claim to be Christians have always acted in a way that is kind or respectful, but the purpose of true Christians is to love God and to love people, sharing God’s love and message of salvation with the world.
Christianity offers an explanation for the creation of the universe, and hope for the future, but most importantly a restored and loving relationship between you and God.
I think all people wrestle with the questions “Am I loved? Does my life have meaning?
Why do I hurt? (So many bad things have happened to me, can I overcome them and find joy?) Is there any hope for the world? (Everything seems to be going wrong. Are we doomed?)
I was actually reading a book about this earlier which talks about how no matter what worldview you have it seeks to answer those key questions. (You can ask yourself how true you think that is, but it does seem that way to me.)
The main reason I believe in Jesus and the Bible is because it’s the only thing that gives a satisfying answer to those questions.
I know I am loved by Jesus in a deep and unconditional way, which he proved by his sacrifice on the cross, and the Bible teaches that God isn’t some distant deity but is a close and personal who loves you and wants to be with you throughout all the struggles of life. My worth comes from him and what he thinks of me, rather than what other people say or how I feel about myself.
*realizes this is getting really long...if you’re still reading this kudos to you - you’re awesome. ;)
Why do we hurt? The Bible’s answer to this is we hurt because we live in a broken world filled with sin and suffering. But the good news is Jesus has defeated the power of death and gives us the assurance that one day our suffering will end, and he will give us strength and comfort until it does.
As a Christian my life has meaning because I know I am made by God and He is the one who fills my life with value and purpose.
With God, hope is not just a wishful idea or positive thinking - it’s something real and sure and true. We know that good will triumph in the end, the world will be made new, pain and suffering will end, and we can live with confidence and trust Jesus instead of giving into despair.
So yeah, I believe the Bible is true, God is real, and Jesus loves you more than you can possibly imagine. You are so precious to him that he died on the cross to take the punishment of your sins and give you the promise of eternal life if you put your trust in him. (And God raised him from the dead on the third day so now we can live in fellowship with him.)
I love Jesus and because of him my life is filled with hope and purpose even in difficult times. <3 -
I'm a Christian, and i believe that Jesus died for my sins, and when i die, by his grace i will have everlasting life in heaven.
I'm not a strong believer, and at times i ask questions as to what God does and doesn't do, but sometimes, he just doesn't do things the way we think he will do for us.
I believe he cares for us and loves everyone no matter how bad they are. We just have to love him and obey his commandments. -
Omnism

Atheist, but I also believe in the Greek, Roman and Norse gods. They're more like spirits to me than gods, so I still classify myself as an atheist
-
I’m an atheist, but sometimes I’ll get the notion that there is a god, but he just genuinely doesn’t give two s---s about us.
-
I believe that there is a afterlife such as heaven, hell and purgatory along with just being on earth still if one is not willing to accept there death yet.
