I'm going to try to throw biblical context in here to prove my point, but I personally believe the bible is a religious text full of symbolism. The bible is not meant to be taken literally. With that being said; I am no longer a Christain, but was raised in it for most of my life.
Did God create sin?
I believe so. He created everything, that includes sin. This is proven through the scripture:
"I form the light, and create darkness: I male peace, and create evil: I the Lord do all these things." -Isaiah 45:7
If you read the Bible, you know that God is an all powerful being, but he himself is not completely free of evil. In fact, he is a terrible and fearsome thing.
[I'm going to post a trigger warning here; because this does deal with some rough topics. Proceed with caution.]
The first one I would like to mention is Job. I would pin-point exact scripture, but the whole book is definitely something you should read, if you haven't.
In this book, God and Satan make a deal in regards to Job. God sees him as a 'perfect' man, who would not falter from his faith. Satan doesn't believe him, so God let's Satan take reign of this man's life. His whole family ends up dying, as do his cattle and plant-life. He loses his friends, and contracts leprosy.
Now, yes most Christians would say, "God was just trying his faith." Job was just a normal man, whose life got thrown in shambles because of a bet.
Here are more scriptural evidence with worse deeds committed (if you would like a read):
Hosea 13:4, 9, 16-God destroys the fetuses of those who do not worship him
Isaiah 13:9-16-Babies are slaughtered and wives r*ped
Judges 11:30-39-A daughter is burned as an acceptable sacrifice to God
Read those scriptures and take what you will from them.
The point I want to make is; God is definitely not perfect or pure. Evil exists in God in some form or fashion. -
But really...
If God was perfect, he wouldn’t let everything he created be wiped out, just because we’re ‘imperfect’
How unreasonable is that? Humans are incredibly intelligent, resourceful, and frankly, we’ve learned so much over thousands of years, and that definitely wouldn’t go to waste. God may be super powerful, but he can’t create a whole new race of creatures better than humans.
And I would credit science, math, and more studies that have helped us through it. God didn’t send anyone a message or sign about a cure for anything, while scientists came up with antidotes to help even the weak and dying. -
@Chameleonleap
You are right. While humans are an incredibly intelligent species I don't think God actually meant it that way.
From the bible it clearly shows that Adam and Eve lived perfectly simple lives. They wore no clothes and lived off of plants.
We weren't even meant to be eating animals until after Eve sinned.
So while God may not destroy us completely since we are His creation I don't think we are his pride creation.
I am sure He has created other worlds, other intelligent creatures other galaxies.
The point above is supported by the fact that there is scientific proof that the universe is ever expanding. This expansion cannot be explained except for the fact that something outside of this universe that is not held back by the laws of the universe is constantly creating within the universe.
That is God. -
i think you're confusing expanding with growing. more universe isn't being made. the universe we already have is just getting more spread out
-
Precisly my point.
It can't spread on its own -
Kish:
If this is God, where is the proof? People need something more than a biblical text to justify something like that. Even more so; how do you know this is God? Take the Bible out of the question. Pretend it doesn't exist. How would you justify yourself without biblical context?
Science is real. That is something we can see, touch, believe etc. What evidence do you have that follows scientific boundaries, that shows God exists? For all we know, it could be something completely different than God. -
I think we could go on and on about whether God exists or not because this is a very broad subject.
At the end of the day its only about what you think.
I personally don't agree with holy books because they are written by people just like you and I.
I do believe God exists because everything at some point needs to be created.
I however, don't believe that God is sitting around listening to prayers or watching over us.
He has created this world to function on its own and moved on
