god is the one who decides what is and isn't a sin. he decided not to tell people directly but instead go though priests that have no more credibility than the priests of any other religion. if people dont believe these priests instead of other priests they go to hell. that doesn't sound like mercy to me .

@Spice Are you referring to when they die or to Judgment Day?
-
So tell me-
If someone has changed the world so much, gotten us to where we are helped most of all humanity...
And they still don’t believe in God.
Would this person get thrown into hell? -
I can’t hint of any good examples right now, but that seems very wrong.
Someone who’s helped the human race so much, is considered to be someone who did wrong?
Btw, I’m Jewish. But one side of my family doesn’t have strong beliefs in god. Sure, there’s the little legends about stuff, but I just can’t believe that. My mom and little sister are very strong on the God idea, and they’re always talking about ‘Karma, sins, praying’, when my Dad, sister, brother, and I, just can’t agree. If god was real, he would’ve helped us much more, throughout the world’s struggles it has almost always been somebody (a scientist, etc) who has helped. -
The troubles of the world are nothing compared to the joy and peace in heaven.
You actually reminded me of a hymn that kind of talks about it.
I'm but a Stranger Here
1 I'm but a stranger here,
Heaven is my home;
Earth is a desert drear;
Heaven is my home:
Danger and sorrow stand
Round me on every hand;
Heaven is my fatherland,
Heaven is my home.
2 What though the tempest rage,
Heaven is my home;
Short is my pilgrimage,
Heaven is my home:
And time's wild wintry blast
Soon shall be overpast;
I shall reach home at last,
Heaven is my home.
3 There at my Saviour's side,
Heaven is my home;
I shall be glorified,
Heaven is my home.
There are the good and blest,
Those I love most and best;
And there I too shall rest,
Heaven is my home.
4 Therefore I murmur not,
Heaven is my home;
Whate'er my earthly lot,
Heaven is my home:
And I shall surely stand
There at my Lord's right hand:
Heaven is my fatherland,
Heaven is my home. -
Other questions:
Consider all of the uncontacted tribes in the Amazon rainforest. None of them will ever hear about Christianity. And they're all going to hell because of that? That doesn't seem very fair.
And in my personal opinion.. The Christian god is a selfish f---. He creates an entire universe just so us humans can spend our lives worshipping and serving him. He unleashes all sorts of evil and torture (bugs that burrow into the eyes of children, storms that kill, because I know "sin" is "because of satan) and claims that this is so we'll believe in him and start worshipping him. And then, if we worship him while we're alive, we have to go to Heaven and become mindless drones who worship him for all eternity and have no free will or autonomy.
And if we DON'T, we have to burn in hell and suffer forever. No matter what we did in life, no matter if you simply have never heard of the Christian god. That's f---ed up.
I believe in reincarnation. Our souls are eternal. We are sent here to learn lessons and become better, and once we're finished with those lessons, we get to help others learn theirs, or we get to stay in the afterlife. -
But heaven isn’t our life, or a part of it.
Our time on Earth, and in the universe is Life. -
I’d rather go to hell then
But heaven isn’t a part of life. Earth is. This is the place where humans have evolved. So what else can be called home?
I don’t think people realize, but this planet is one of the most beautiful things out there. If anything, I’d like to worship the earth -
I'm still concerned about the fact that you say "God has given us every chance" when there are people who will die (and so many that have) without ever hearing of Jesus and Christianity.

We actually had a discussion similar to this in catechism class last year. If hypothetically for some odd reason someone has been locked in a room for his whole life with only the Old Testament, naturally he would think the Messiah was still coming and hadn't already come. So would he go to hell for not believing that Jesus had payed for our sins or not?But we aren't told what would happen if someone who wasn't exposed to the gospel died. It's kind of like the question "If a baby dies before it's born does it go to heaven or hell?" But the Bible says that those who reject God's word are the one's that are going to hell. You also have to take into account original sin, though.
I guess the simple conclusion is that we're not told, and so we don't know. -
And God didn't unleash anything. Those are a result of sin, God hates sin, why would he unleash it? But he uses the sin that's in the world to bring us closer to him.
We had an unfree will before we were brought to faith. All we could or would do were things contrary to God's Word. There's a bible passage that Paul wrote, but I can't remember the reference.
We don't obey God because we have to, we obey him because we want to.
We don't know what heaven is going to be like. We can't imagine perfection. -
So he’s taking advantage of people?
-
And heaven can’t be perfect, it seriously isn't possible
-
God created those bugs, dude. He created the world. So yeah.. He did unleash them.
-
Everything was perfect before the fall into sin. Even the bugs.
