Brittonio34 NoviceMohammed had to convince people to believe and so did Buddha. Tongue there not exactly Christians since they make up their own scripture. It's complicated
-
tongue AdvancedThey all believe Jesus is the savior of humanity sent by God, so yes, they are Christian.
-
Brittonio34 NoviceYou said the same thing again. I'll rephrase what I said. The different religions contradict what the Bible says. So it can be viewed either way. Jesus's teachings aren't neccessarily what they believe.
-
Brittonio34 NoviceHey do you know how to put in a picture next to your name?
-
tongue AdvancedThere are an awful lot of things in the Bible that are questionable, too much to follow the book completely. Leviticus is the best example- don't eat shellfish, but you can enslave non-Christians? Who the hell follows that? And actually, one of the tenants of the Church of Jehovah's Witness is the interpretation of a Bible verse about not eating blood to mean that blood transfusions are banned in God's eyes. Yea, the Book of Mormon is hogwash. So are many of the stories of the Old Testament. Do you really think Moses parted the Red Sea? Or that God sent a great flood to cleanse humanity of evil?
If the writers of the Old Testament can create their own mythology, Mormons are more than entitled to theirs.
I don't like Witnesses or Mormons. But they are Christians, and other Christians refuse to acknowledge the Christendom of those entities only because it means being lumped in with the loonies. Who does? But the truth is, there is no good or bad religion, there's just religion. Every good or bad act someone chalks up to faith is a product of religion. MLK and David Koresh were both Christians- one made social progress, the other thought he was God and caused the deaths of almost all of his followers. There is no separating good from bad where religion is concerned. -
Brittonio34 NoviceTongue- where do you think the books came from? They are historical accounts of human history

Mormons aren't christians. They often call themselves christians, in an attempt to try and convert true christians to Mormonism, but they aren't. First of all, Christians believe God has always been God, and he never had a beginning. He has existed forever. Mormons believe God was once a man who eventually became God. Secondly, Mormons believe, that, there are several different heavens, but no hell. Which heaven you go to depends on how good you've been during your life. Christians believe that there is one heaven and one hell. Basically, you go to heaven if you accept Jesus Christ, if not, you go to hell. So even if you do tons of good stuff in your life, if you don't accept Jesus Christ, you will go to hell. Also, Christians believe Jesus and God were the same person, while Mormons believe that Jesus was literally God's son.
And please forgive me for being too stupid to use paragraphs. xD -
tongue AdvancedYea, Mormonism is a really different, really radical branch of Christianity. But there are about a billion different branches of Christianity that believe alot of different things. Mormons are still Christians because they are branch off the same tree. And honestly, I think it's great that they believe in good works getting you to Heaven, cuz good works mean alot more on Earth than accepting Jesus. I'm pretty sure, though, that accepting Jesus AND doing good works puts you in the highest level of Heaven as far as the Mormons are concerned.
-
There are no highest levels of heaven, there is just heaven, with God. Just because I believe that accepting Jesus Christ is what gets me to heaven doesn't mean that I don't believe doing good things on earth is important, it just doesn't decide my fate.
-
tongue AdvancedHey, I never said the Mormons were correct, but they don't seem any more insane to me than mainstream Christianity.
-
Mormonism has sort of evolved out of christianity, so, whatever, I guess you can call them a branch of christianity if you want.
-
Urrrrrrgggh.
I'n not even going to argue.
But.
I dont want to know what happens to you all when the rapture comes.
(KJV is the only bible that should be used. The others, like nkjv and niv take away some of the most important verses and words.) -
eilloh- I don't particularly like typing your name b/c it takes to long, do you have a suggestion as for a nickname?
-
@eilloh:
I'm a christian. I know what happens when the rapture comes. Please, just because I disagree with a few things that you believe in (and won't listen to anybody else, because apparently you're the only human being in the world who is correct about anything) doesn't mean I'm going to hell. :/ I've read out of several different bible versions, including the KJV. NLT (New Living Translation) is the translation I own right now, because I find it the easiest translation to understand.
I'm trying to be nice to you, but seriously, you should consider what other people say sometimes. They're not always wrong.
