If the sky did not exist then the suns radiation would have killed off all life on earth. It also acts like a blanket wrapped around the earth, to protect it from the freezing cold of space. The temperature just above the sky is approximately -270oC. If this temperature was to reach earth then the planet would freeze over instantly. The sky also protects life on earth by warming the surface through heat retention (greenhouse effect), and reducing temperature extremes between day and night[5]. These are some of the many protective functions of the sky.
The Quran asks us to consider the sky in the following verse:
We made the sky a protective ceiling. And yet they are turning away from Our signs! (Quran 21:32)
The Quran points to the skys protection as a sign of God. The protective properties of the sky were discovered by scientific research conducted in the 20th century.

Jihad in the Bible
Let us see what the Bible has to say about Jihad in the meaning of war and violence. The following verses are from the Bible, New International Version (NIV), 1984
"Do not allow a sorceress to live. Anyone who has sexual relations with an animal must be put to death. Whoever sacrifices to any god other than the LORD must be destroyed." [Exodus 22:18-20]
"This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: 'each man strap a sword to his side. Go back and forth through the camp from one end to the other, each killing his brother and friend and neighbor.' The Levites did as Moses commanded and that day about three thousand of the people died." [Exodus 32:27-28]
"The LORD said to Moses, 'Take vengeance on the Midianites for the Israelites. The Israelites captured the Midianite women and children and took all the Midianite herds, flocks and goods
as plunder. They burned all the towns where the Midianites had settled, as well as all their camps. (Moses ordered) "Now kill all the boys. And kill every women who has slept with a man, but save for yourselves every girl who has never slept with a man." [Numbers 31:1-18]
(Jesus said) "But those enemies of mine who did not want me to be king over them - bring them here and kill them in front of me." [Luke 19:27]
"He (Jesus) said to them, 'But now if you have a purse, take it, and also a bag; and if you don't have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one." [Luke 22:36]

macoooo AdvancedAccording to Hindu belief and their holy books, the description of the guide and the leader, named Kalki Avatar, fits only to the Prophet Muhammad of Arabia (S.A.S). So the Hindus of the whole world should not wait any longer for the arrival of Kalki Avatar (the spirit) and should readily accept Prophet Muhammad (SAW) as Kalki Avatar. The facts were verified and supported by the eight eminent pundits.
What the author and the eight other eminent pundits say is that the Hindus who are still anxiously awaiting the arrival of Kalki Avatar are simply subjecting themselves to a never ending pain. Because such a great messenger has come and departed from this world fourteen centuries ago. The author produces the following sound evidence from the Vedas and other holy books of Hindu religion in support of his claim:
1. In Purana (a holy book of Hindus) it is stated that Kalki Avatar would be the last messenger (prophet) of God in this world for the Guidance of the whole world and all human beings.
2. According to a Hindu religious prediction, the birth of Kalki Avatar would take place in an isle which again according to Hindu religion is the Arab Region.
3. In books of Hindus, the names of the father and the mother of Kalki Avatar are given as VISHNUBHAGAT and SUMAANI respectively. If we examine the meanings of these names we shall come to a very interesting conclusion:
Take VISHNUBHAGAT= VISHNU (meaning God) + BHAGAT( meaning slave) = ALLAH + ABD (in Arabic) = Slave of God = ABDULLAH (in arabic) (name of Mohammed's Father) SUMAANI= PEACE or Calmness = Aamenah (in Arabic).
4. In religious books of Hindus, it is mentioned that the staple food of Kalki Avatar would be dates and olives and he would be the most honest and truthful person in the region. Without any doubt the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) is acclaimed to possess these qualities.
5. It is stated in Vedas (holy book of Hindu Religion) that the birth of Kalki Avatar would take place in an honorable clan. This perfectly fits the Quraysh where the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) belonged to.
6. God would teach Kalki Avatar through His messenger (angel) in a cave. Allah taught Prophet Muhammad (SAW), through His messenger Jibraeel (Gabrael) in a cave known as Gaar-e-Hiraa.
7. God would avail Kalki Avatar with a very speedy horse to ride and travel the whole world and the seven skies. Indication of Buraq (horse) and Me'raj (ascension when prophet traveled the seven skies).
8. God would also avail Kalki Avatar with divine help. This was particularly proved in the Battle of Uhud.
9. Another dazzling account given about Kalki Avatar was that he would be born on the 12th of a month; whereas the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) was born on the 12th of the Rabiul Awwal (Islamic Calendar).
10. Kalki Avatar would be an excellent horse rider and a swordsman.
The author here draws the attention of Hindus that the real days of horses and swords have gone and the present time is of guns and missiles. So it would be foolish on the part of those who still expect Kalki Avatar, who should be an excellent rider and swordsman to come.
In fact, the divine book, Holy Qur'an contains qualities and signs attributed to Kalki Avatar reflecting on the Prophet Muhammad (SAW).The author has given numerous arguments in favor of his claim that Kalki Avatar is in fact Prophet Muhammad (SAW) and those who still await the arrival of Kalki Avatar should think again.

Iron is not natural to the earth. It did not form on the earth but came down to earth from outer space. This may sound strange but its true. Scientists have found that billions of years ago the earth was stuck by meteorites. These meteorites were carrying Iron from distant stars which had exploded[4].
The Quran says the following on the origin of Iron:
We sent down Iron with its great inherent strength and its many benefits for humankind. (Quran 57:25)
God uses the words sent down for Iron. It is clear from the verse that Iron is not an earthly material, but was sent down for the benefit of humanity. The fact that Iron came down to earth from outer space is something which could not be known by the primitive science of the 7th century.

macoooo AdvancedWater is essential for all living things. We all know that water is vital to life but the Quran makes a very unusual claim:
We made every living thing from water? Will they not believe? (Quran 21:30)
In this verse water is pointed out as the origin of all life. All living things are made of cells. We now know that cells are mostly made up of water[3]. For example, 80% of the cytoplasm (basic cell material) of a standard animal cell is described as water in biology textbooks.
The fact that living things consist mostly of water was discovered only after the invention of the microscope. In the deserts of Arabia, the last thing someone would have guessed is that all life came from water.

macoooo AdvancedAllaah is the Most Merciful, Most Compassionate, and He is the most Merciful of those who show mercy. His Mercy encompasses all things. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):
and My Mercy embraces all things
[al-Araaf 7:156]
In Saheeh Muslim it is narrated from Abu Hurayrah that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: Allaah has one hundred parts of mercy, of which He sent down one between the jinn, mankind, the animals and the insects, by means of which they are compassionate and merciful to one another, and by means of which wild animals are kind to their offspring. And Allaah has kept back ninety-nine parts of mercy with which to be merciful to His slaves of the Day of Resurrection.
Muslim, al-Tawbah, 6908.
It was narrated that Umar ibn al-Khattaab said: Some prisoners were brought to the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), and there was a woman among the prisoners who was searching (for her child). When she found her child she embraced him and put him to her breast. The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said to us, Do you think that this woman would throw her child in the fire? We said, No, by Allaah, not if she is able not to. The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said, Allaah is more merciful to His slaves than this woman is to her child.
Agreed upon. Al-Bukhaari, 5653; Muslim, 6912.
One aspect of the Mercy of Allaah to His slaves is that He sent the Messengers and revealed the Books and laws to organize their lives according to the ways of wisdom, far removed from hardship and difficulty. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):
And We have sent you (O Muhammad) not but as a mercy for the Aalameen (mankind, jinn and all that exists)
[al-Anbiya 21:107]
The Mercy_of Allaah is what will admit His believing slaves to Paradise on the Day of Resurrection. No one will ever enter Paradise because of his deeds alone, as the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: No ones deeds will ever admit him to Paradise. They said, Not even you, O Messenger of Allaah? He said, No, not even me, unless Allaah showers me with His Mercy. So try to be near to perfection. And no one should wish for death; he is either doing good so he will do more of that, or he is doing wrong so he may repent.
Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 5349; Muslim, 7042
So the believer must remain in a state between hoping for the Mercy of Allaah and fearing His punishment, for Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):
Declare (O Muhammad) unto My slaves, that truly, I am the Oft-Forgiving, the Most-Merciful.
And that My Torment is indeed the most painful torment
[al-Hijr 15:49-50]
It is sufficient for us to know that the Mercy of Allaah encompasses all things. O Allaah, have mercy upon us, O Most merciful of those who show mercy.

Whereas the Bible talks of the sun and the moon as two lights differing only in size, the Quran distinguishes between them by the use of different terms: light (noor) for the moon, and lamp (siraaj) for the sun.
Did you see how Allah created seven heavens, one above the other, and made in them the moon a light and the sun a lamp? Quran, 78:12-13
The moon is an inert body which reflects light, whereas the sun is a celestial body in a state of permanent combustion producing both light and heat.
Stars and Planets
The word star (najm) in the Quran ( 86:3 ) is accompanied by the adjective thaaqib which indicates that it burns and consumes itself as it pierces through the shadows of the night. It was much later discovered that stars are heavenly bodies producing their own light like the sun.
In the Quran, a different word, kawkab, is used to refer to the planets which are celestial bodies that reflect light and do not produce their own light like the sun.
We have adorned the lowest heaven with ornaments, the planets. Quran, 37:6
Rotation of the sun and expansion of the universe

macoooo AdvancedDrawing animate beings such as people and animals is haraam, and is in fact a major sin.
It is not permissible to make images of these animals because the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) cursed the image-makers and said: The most severely punished of the people on the Day of Resurrection will be the image-makers. This indicates that making images is a major sin, because this curse only applies to major sins, and the warning of severe punishment only applies to major sins. But it is possible to draw part of the body such as a hand or foot, etc, because these parts cannot live independently, and the apparent meaning of the texts is that what is forbidden is that which could live (independently), because the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said in some ahaadeeth: He (the image maker) will be told to breathe life into it and he will not be able to do so.

The Quranic description of the sequence of day and night would, in itself, be rather commonplace were it not for the fact that it is expressed in terms that are today highly appropriate. The Quran uses the verb kawwara in chapter az-Zumar to describe the way the night winds or coils itself around the day and the day around the night.
He coils the night upon the day and the day upon the night. Quran, 39:5
The original meaning of the verb kis to coil a turban around the head. This is a totally valid comparison; yet at the time the Quran was revealed, the astronomical data necessary to make this comparison were unknown. It is not until man landed on the moon and observed the earth spinning on its axis, that the dark half of the globe appeared to wind itself around the light and the light half appeared to wind itself around the dark.

The intent of art is not to create life, but to express it. I'm curious, why is it a sin? I have never heard that before. I must admit that I am perplexed. :/

macoooo Advancedyou like him he said to me;
--------
What is your position on political cartoons which are not exact representations of people and animals but, rather, exaggerations for the purpose of delivering a message?
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) told us that the one who makes images by drawing or engraving will be punished on the Day of Resurrection, and these images whose makers are given this warning are images of animate beings, based on what its says in the hadeeth, that Allaah will say: Give life to that which you have crated.
It was narrated from Abd-Allaah ibn Umar (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: Those who make images will be punished on the Day of Resurrection, and it will be said to them: Bring to life that which you have created. Narrated by al-Bukhaari (5607) and Muslim (2108).
It seems that images with incomplete features and those which do not have a nose or eyes are not included in the images that are haraam, and their makers are not included in the warning, because they cannot really be called images and these pictures are not competing with the creation of Allaah.
It was narrated that Aaishah (may Allaah be pleased with her) said: The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: Among the people who will be most severely punished on the Day of Resurrection will be those who imitate the creation of Allaah.
Narrated by al-Bukhaari (5610) and Muslim (2107).

The notion of a settled place for the sun is vividly described in chapter Yaa Seen of the Quran:
The sun runs its coarse to a settled place That is the decree of the Almighty, the All Knowing. Quran, 36:38
Settled place is the translation of the word mustaqarr which indicates an exact appointed place and time. Modern astronomy confirms that the solar system is indeed moving in space at a rate of 12 miles per second towards a point situated in the constellation of Hercules ( alpha lyrae ) whose exact location has been precisely calculated. Astronomers have even give it a name, the solar apex.
