Well, this has been an absolutely riveting discussion, hasn't it?
Excuse me, because I certainly don't want to derail the brilliant discussion we're all having, but can I just pop a few questions down?
Would you mind actually expanding on what's part you don't believe, and why? Do you not believe they literally happened and were allegorical or do you not believe they happened at all? -
I can't say specifically but I believe most or all of it is based on true events but some or many of the events have been exaggerated or not portrayed accurately. It depends who wrote it, I don't know and can't be bothered to look it up but I doubt the stories were passed along accurately, assuming it was written not by first hand witnesses.

Actually, you can easily test how accurately the bible has been translated over the years by comparing it to surviving manuscripts such as the Dead Sea Scrolls or the Masoretic Text. It's changed surprisingly little. Sure, certain translations take liberties in trying to maintain ease of use, but as long as connect them to earlier versions it's really kind of hard to drastically change the bible.

One day I wake up and I believe everything
The next day I wake up and start to doubt
The following day I wake up not believing
A week later I wake up believing
insert the rest of the stages
I think I have lost my mindModerator -
I'd just recommend praying to God for guidance.
Either that or speak with someone who's more studied in Theology than me about what your doubts are.
I mean, it's okay to have doubts, Christianity can stand up to them, but it only hurts yourself if you don't seek answers to them. -
