Even if she refused federal orders to marry LGBTQ+ couples, she shouldn't have gone to jail? But none of the less, just f---ing fire the f---wad? I think you're still entitled to your beliefs, of course, but when you're at work I think you should put your beliefs(especially the religious beliefs in opposing same-sex marriage and couples) and feelings and ignorance aside and actually do the job that you're anticipated to do because at jobs you're suppose to have a secular mind and be fair to everyone. If you don't want to do your own job that you now have, just quit or get fired. Especially her employees that were also just really insinuating as they were taking a stand for their "Christian beliefs".

Amsterrocks Newbie1. say your name ten times.
2. say your mom's name five times.
3. say your crushes three times
4. paste this to four other groups.
If you do this, your crush will kiss you on the nearest Friday.
But if you read this and do not paste this, then you
will have very bad luck. -
She did the right thing by NOT getting them married. Sorry, but not sorry.
She did the right thing and say whatever you want because this is your thread.
Hope you enjoy your disappointment. -
It's not illegal to have beliefs. It's illegal to hold a public office and try to impose your beliefs on others. She went to jail for this. Because it was ILLEGAL.
-
So it's illegal to stand up for what you believe?
-
Standing up for what you believe in is perfectly fine. However, she works in a government position, and the American government requires a division of state and religion. She was not only breaking the law, but failing to do her job. If she can't handle the fact that the government no longer bases its views on religious concepts, she shouldn't be in the position.

But how is that deserving of prison? This link elaborates the separation from church and state and now where in it does it say her in prison mentioned was just.
It actually clearly states that Nowhere is this more important than with the Establishment Clause of the First Amendment: forbidding an official establishment of religion is something quite different from the much looser, imprecise term separation of church and state. The Constitution only forbids government sponsorship and compulsion of religious exercise by individual citizens. It does not require hermetic separationimplying exclusionof religion and religious persons from public affairs of state.
Besides, isn't homosextuality an belief? How come her denial of something that disregards her faith put her in jail, but homosextuals can do whatever they please and have no separation from state? -
This just seems very injust...
-
Imprisonment* not in prison mention..
-
She was not put in jail for being a christian. Being a christian was merely the motivation for her real crime of breaking the 14th amendment by denying someone the right to marry. The separation of church and state doesn't even come into this, at all, and you have to really misinterpret the situation to find even a passing connection.
No, homosexuality is not a belief; and even if it was, a homosexual would receive the same punishment as Kim did if he broke the 14th amendment.
It is not up to you to determine a just punishment either. That is the judges job, and he several years worth of experience in law and punishment. -
Oh. Well, I got it all wrong.
Well, why couldn't someone else get them married if they were that (yuck, ew, gross people) desperate? Simple problem=simple answer -
Marriage is a legal affair. A preist can refuse to marry someone based on his beliefs but since a marriage license has nothing to do with religion, she was in the wrong to refuse it.
-
Wasn't she also telling the other workers to not give them a license?
-
It's excessive that she went to jail. If she failed to perform the duties involved with her job, she should have lost her job. period.
the only reason they made such a huge deal out of it, is because the LGBT is the group that largely campaigned for this to begin with and as such, their bully culture is the one that advertises the situation.
