All depends on your religion.
-
Yes.
-
Only if you are willing to surrender your capacity for independent, objective thought to superstition and wishful thinking.
-
It's not "should you?", it's "will you?"
-
It's the smart decision, regardless of what Tongue says.
I mean, if God exists, sweet, you go to paradise, have fun, all the good s---.
If he doesn't, you stop existing, lose nothing.
Seems like a sweet deal to me. -
Man created God to try and control human's actions for the good of everyone. Since human's are easily capable of doing bad things such as murder or rape, God was created to somewhat limit these actions.
By instilling fear in people's hearts of an All-powerful Being that will decide what will eventually happen to you after your current life, it somehow keeps civilization...well civilized (apart from some of course)
God was also created to help explain what happens to you after you die, since this has puzzled man for centuries and no absolute explanation is available, God was somehow created under this basis
By "praying" to God, this gives a human hope for the future, imagine if an average Christian went through tough times (but God was not created or talked about) what would they do?
So this is indeed what I believe, God was created for the purpose of adding hope for the future as well as trying to explain what happens to a person after they die.
However, like everything else, this has its own criticism such as how do you explain the miracles that occur around the world?
How to explain of a Man that claimed to be the Son Of God could heal people and even raise them from the dead.
Well, I believe its general knowledge that people can only use about 20% of their brain.
However, some can bypass this limit, allowing them to be able to do things other people cannot do. It is said that the brain is the most powerful thing in the world as it can turn imagination to reality. People with more than 20% brain capacity are able to do things normal brains consider impossible. This is my best possible explanation for healing and miracles that people doModerator -
That's actually a common misconception. People use 100% percent of their brain, because most of the brain is designed to perform specific tasks, such as keeping your heart beating or monitoring your internal body heat. Attempting to use specialized areas of your brain for something other than what they're made for would result in seizures and death.
Ever since we invented brain scans, this myth has been thoroughly busted. Brain scans show that nearly all the brain is active at all times, even sleep. Not to mention that only using 10% of your brain would make brain damage nearly impossible. -
Believe in what keeps you happy and sane about life and reality. X3
-
Yes. God is unconditional love, basically.
-
If you want to believe in an archaic mythological fairy tale written by primitive people.
-
Kish: No. The idea of the after-life and God was created for people that were afraid of the natural factors of death.
Horse: Yeah, the deity that killed and flooded millions to death because he did not like them because they sinned(even if he's an all-powerful deity he could have snapped his fingers and sin would be gone), agreed and enforced with slavery, and so on is so FULL of conditional love. -
"even if he's an all-powerful deity he could have snapped his fingers and sin would be gone."
It's called free will. Look it up. There's no way He would control us like that, like robots. -
I think you should believe in whatever feels comfortable for you, and makes you happy. If that means believing in the Christian God, then that's fine. If that means you believe in fairies, then that's also fine. If that means that you believe in nothing, then that's fine. As long as you're happy, then believe in whatever you want.
-
Does it really matter? I mean, religion is probably one of the things that cause most wars and horrors, but yet it makes people happy. It's all up to personal opinion really.
