Thread Topic: Who believes in magic?
-
Largely people who talk about magic are coming from an irrational place. But yes, there is a realism to it in the right context.
-
What do you mean by irrational place
Yes small objectsModerator -
I mean just that. Generally speaking, people who discuss magic seriously have no idea what they're talkimg about, and fuel their conversation wwith a mix of denialism, wishful thinkimg, and flamimg hot emotion
-
You'll probably think it sounds silly but what Kish said is true though.
-
A teenage girl chucking aroumd fireballs and using telekinesis does sound silly. I always say that nothings impossible, but there are certainly irregularities in her story that require evidence that she has not, and in fact of the millions of people who've made the same claims have never provided.
The part of her sfory which was not irregular doesnt really go to show magic. Which is actually the inherint issue with defining magic -
Well yeah I do find the fire and objects bit hard to believe. That may have been actual magic trick. I believe the first story though.
-
Theres no reason not to believe that part becausw its really not irregular. Lol it doesnt go to show anything.
Thats what i meam by irrationality. -
Well yeah I know it looks like it could be a coincidence. How often would it have to happen before it was no longer a coincidence though?
-
Well there's actually statistical models that can be used to discern random occurrence. I dont happen to have the graphs off the top of my head but they do exist.
Even if it is statistically unlikely however doesnt indicate supernatural intervention.
Look up for instance the event probablility theory on google. -
merlinea NewbieIs it magic if like okay I go in the sun and my eyes turn ice blue cos that's always happen. Anyways I do believe in magic! Always
-
Kish doesn't bend spoons, he bends the world around the spoon.
-
@merlinea no that's not magic it's normal, I think mine do that too.
