First of all, if they're mentally ill, why do they go to hell? It's not their fault.
Second, they're not mentally ill. Sexual relationships are about more than reproduction, especially in primate species such as humans. They just are attracted to another person which just so happens to be the same sex as them.
Third, cloaking your homophobia behind "we should treat them equally" is still cloaking homophobia. It's still there. -

It wasn't childish at all. Believing that people who are different have an illness even when their difference can be explained scientifically is a form of delusion.

not everyone wants to reproduce. there's infertile couples that get married and people who never want children in the first place.
