well if you're gonna go there and say it's all internally generated, then someone could just as easily say it about atheism, or the color green. There's no guards against doubting the reality of something save faith which is what makes solipsism so brilliant.
The only way to definitely state something is real is by NOT backing it up with logic but to say, this is what I believe, I've got nothing but here it is.
Because when it comes down to it, every physical action is mathematically impossible, and every bit of matter that you are composed of does not have a known root.
It's all essentially conjecture. Logic on chaos, and we apply learning process to make contraptions but in the end, we can't even be sure if it was sheer dumb luck that led us to believe the things we hold as fact.
And yes, we can equate "God" to the tooth fairy as far as things that are outside the realm of modern science, but it's easy to dismiss the tooth fairy or Cinderella because no one gives a crap. When it comes to "God" on the other hand, at least 50% of the population claim to believe in some form of him or another, all the rest believe in some form of spiritual force or take a hardlined stance that there is no such thing. Given the cultural implications it's worth going the extra mile to say that "God" is not scientifically discovered or perceived, but in that capacity, we can't rule out his existence.
then there's also the issue that it doesn't leave any room for error. saying something that is currently outside the realm of science is totally imagined, is like saying that which is unknown is impossible.
You can't know the things you don't even know that you don't know, so assigning "God" the label of imagination and all that implies, is a pretty presumptuous move. -
UnLoving NewbieBob, if you are going to continue to be this disrespectful, at least stop telling other people that THEY have to be respectful.
You just called gods imaginary friends - last night you called Christianity hateful -
He isn't the one being disrespectful. He's stating his opinion with some solid support, meanwhile you and horses are ganging up on him with statements that you have not provided any support for.
-
UnLoving NewbieI don't go around telling people their Gods are their imaginary friends or that their religion is hateful and cruel!
And I am NOT ganging up with horses just because we have the same religion! -
I don't go around telling people those things either. Just you and only because it was relevant to the conversation at hand. And even then I supported my claim. Something you and horse have yet to do.
Well you can claim you're not as much as you want, but I have yet to see you tell her differently because she seems to think it. -
UnLoving NewbieI HAVE told her differently, thank you very much.
Um excuse me, you've said those things idk like 3 times. But it doesn't mater how often you do say them, it only matters what's said. How is it "relevant" to say something like that about someone's religion?? That's not even okay -.- -
Because it had to do with the thread topic.
