Except Scientology. They're exceptionally wrong.
Follow your own moral compass. The only God is the morality that exists in all of us. -
I'm honestly beginning to believe this more and more.
-
Any you think we're shoving our religions down your throat?
-
Im really starting to agree with that.
-
Dude if you don't believe in God then okay whatever go think about that by yourself but we don't need to hear about how much you dislike God/disagree with the fact that he exists. If you don't have anything to prove here evaluate you don't believe in an after life and you believe it won't matter what we believe now anyway why not just let us believe that and believe what you want?
It's different with Christians because they believe that what you believe matters.
If that made any sense.....sorry for bad grammar but I am so tired right now. -
And I'm not saying that you aren't allowed to express your opinion here because we all have the equal right to do so but I'm just saying why does it even matter to you if you believe in Scientology? You're wasting valuable minutes of your life based upon your beliefs.
I'm probably the only one who can understand me right now. -
He meant that Scientology is even more wrong than the other religions, not that it's right.
-
Ok, if I'm wasting valuable minutes of my life preaching my beliefs, then what are you doing?
I don't see myself as shoving my beliefs down anyone's throats. If anything I am trying to lead people away from the harmful indoctrination and mental slavery of organized religion. But really I'm just playing to my audience, because damn near everyone here has already come to the realization that religion does more harm than good for themselves. -
OMG sorry dudes I was so tired and stressed last night because I got into a fight with my mother and I wasn't paying attention at all. I now see my mistake.
So I take it you are an atheist.
Christians preach their beliefs because they believe that if they can convert someone, it will make a difference. The person will go to Heaven.
With atheism, when you convert someone to atheism, you believe it won make a difference because there is no Heaven or hell, so no matter what the person believes, there is no afterlife and what they believe now doesn't affect them.
So why do you care then? If what they believe won't affect them, why do you even care? -
I really don't care that much. I refer to myself as a "reformed atheist" because I don't subscribe to any atheist movement. Conversion is stupid no matter who is trying to do it, and frankly I find many such atheists to be as sanctimonious as religious folks. I don't claim to have all the answers, I simply encourage others to find answers for themselves instead of blindly following religious doctrine. If I'm in any business, it is "deconversion".
Just think about it a little bit: do you really need religion to tell you what is right and wrong? -
In your beliefs, no.
So (still in your beliefs) it doesn't matter what they believe in. Because there's no afterlife. So it doesn't matter. So let them think what they want.
Right? -
Exactly. There is no afterlife, it is something we invented to ignore the inevitable truth that there is nothing once we die, among other reasons.
-
I personally try to deconvert people because it affects humanity as a whole. There may be no after life, but your beliefs are affecting the one and only life we have. People like you sit on almost all of the seats of power in most first world countries. You make laws that don't make sense, deny research that could be beneficial, and sanction events for yourself that is payed for with government money.
I care because it affects me and the world around me. -
@tongue --- if the afterlife doesn't exist then it doesn't matter what we believe during life? Right?
(Please note that I'm only thinking from your perspective) -
@bob --- well, Old Lady. I thought it wasn't good to "shove religion down other people's throats". I thought we were supposed to let them believe what they believe.
Guess you don't think that anymore.
