Two years ago, my grandmother tragically died of diabetes. She had been doing better for a while, seeing that for a period of time she stopped eating and she became very weak.
A few days before her passing, she called my father and requested that she could talk to me for the first time. Really, she sounded so calm, so sincere.. Really, so happy. She was the kindest person. She talked to me about my father when he was young, my brothers when they were okay, and of my grandpa. It was really the highlight of my year.
A couple of days later, she passed away.
Last year when I went back home, my aunt told me something that is still so fresh on my mind.
The day after she called me, she told my aunt that she dreamed that she and my grandfather were walking on the beaches of Guadalajara, like they did when they were young. The night of that, she told my aunt to rub her feet, because she was going to walk.
When my aunt went to check on her in the morning, she had peacefully passed.
Ever since her death, though I didn't know abuelita that much, I just felt like a big chunk of me was also ripped out. She and I related so much, and we only talked for 30 minutes. I just felt the connection, you know?
That's really the only thing that I remember about her. That she felt comfortable after talking to her granddaughter.
And her dream.. To think of it makes me get goosebumps and my eyes sting. I know she loved my grandpa very much, and it had been a year since he died when she passed.
Ah.. Had to get that out. -
Aw. You'll always have that memory of her though.

Infinity NoviceAwww. There are things like that stick with me forever. But I like to keep them with me, They are THAT Personal. But....
I'm always fearful for my grandma. She is always saying she wants to give up on life and that she is a burdon on us. She can be trouble sometimes, but I love her very Very Very Very VERY Much. Everyone in my family does.
She sometimes stays in her room and cries that she wants god to take her with her better memories. She refuses to eat, but I talk her into it. She only clearly remembers my Mom's name out of her other children. My mom cares for her, and also my aunts. My grandma really remembers my problems and listens to what I have to say.
I'm so panicked I might lose her. I don't do well with any emotional loss. At all. Every time the phone rings at school, I fear my mom is calling to deliver the news. Today it rang and the kid who answered pointed at my direction and my heart skipped a beat. Turns out it was the person next to me who had an appointment.
(sorry for the long story, but I too had to get it out. I tear up saying bye to her, never knowing when god may take her from my family and me) -
:'I may her soul rest in peace, Alice.

I don't know what to say to that... I'm sorry for your loss, but I'm grateful she was able to pass away peacefully. Many good wishes to you and everyone else who loved her, Alice.

I can relate to some parts of your story.
And I'm sorry for your loss. -
I'm sorry you lost her, Arisu. .3. But I know that she died in the best possible way. She seemed to be at peace, and was very glad to talk to you.
