Thread Topic: Why am I obsessed with the word TRITANOPE?
-
Yes, I know what a tritanope is and yes, I know it is socially unacceptable to be obsessed with them. But I am for some reason. Why is this?
-
What is it?
-
Yea, idk what it is either...
-
I looked it up and couldn't find anything on tritanope. I did find tritanopia; which is a color blindness to blues and greens. I'm not sure, but I doubt that's what she's talking about.
-
Tritanope is a person with tritanopia.
-
ah, that explains it.

OOOOOOOOOOOHHHHH!! :D -
How is that socially unacceptable?
-
I don't know; but I get the feeling it is, because I can almost never tell and it might be offensive to colorblind people.
-
I know this kid whos color blind with reds blues and greens (i think those are he colors) and he dosnt care
-
Okay. I'm always worried I'll offend someone with my dumbass obsessions.
-
What makes it so they can't see those colors? Is it a chemical imbalence or something like that?
-
Cone cells in the retina, or photoreceptors, filter light wavelengths. For short wavelengths (380-500 nm), a certain type of cone does this called a short-wavelength cone, or blue cone. This enables people to see "blue" light. In a tritanope, these cones are missing or may as well be.
