Thread Topic: Why is it?

Why is it that the only way I feel like I can help people is by shaming them into a reality check? And why is it that I still get dissapointed when it doesn't work?
-
Melanie Hunter NewbieSometimes hitting people with reality is the only way to help them. You probably get dissapointed with the fails because not many people enjoy failing and you truely are trying to help the person, but they're simply being stubborn.
-
Well said, Melanie.
-
No one likes to admit that they're wrong. By giving someone a reality check, they can see just how wrong they are. It's up to them if they want to believe it or take action upon it. After you aid them to see what's so wrong, it's out of your hands and into theirs. I suppose you get so disappointed because you see potential for people to make something great of themselves. When they don't comply, it saddens you. At least, that's what happens to me.
-
You're saying things just the way it is. I'm sometimes like that as well. I generally don't sugarcoat my sentences and I don't overuse smiles and I'm not generally sympathetic. That's pretty much telling them things just the way they are without altering anything.
-
Sometimes people just need to be slapped in the face in order to get it right.
-
Most of the world is blind to some fact about their selves or another. If it were me in that situation, I would hope that someone would snap me out of it. I lost my sympathy a long time ago. Along with my tolerance to ignorance. Sadly, the person who this thread is mostly about is probably too high to realize it. If they even realized it existed.
-
Melanie Hunter NewbieIf you don't mind me asking, sir, who is this thread mostly about?
-
no i realized it :I
-
Jade, please talk to your girlfriend.
I tried and failed miserably.
Melanie, read over the link I sent Jade. It answers everything. -
I know who you're talking about. I also know what it's like to be in your position, trying to help someone who seemingly disregards it. It's completely in their hands now. If they choose to keep abusing, then that's what they'll keep doing. Something tells me they know it's wrong, but they don't want to admit that they're at fault.
-
I stand corrected. But the foundation still holds strong.
-
I wish you guys knew how much fun I'm having. and I feel better now, I dont feel sick, this is why I've been dreaming about weed, cuz right now I feel healthy.
-
You're not helping your case.
-
That's because you're high. You think you're happy... But you're setting yourself up for a life of addiction and getting wasted. If you're content with throwing out your life for substance abuse, Carla, then be my guest. It pains me to see someone so great do something so irrevocably stupid.
