Thread Topic: diagnosis of neurodivergence in adulthood

i got my diagnosis for ADHD and autism about a year or so ago, and i am in my 20's. it felt relieving and painful at the same time. relieving because i finally understood the way i behave or think... but painful because i didn't know for so long.
for me, my parents insisted i was a "gifted kid" and therefore there was no way i could be autistic. they assumed autistic = mentally challenged or "stupid." i hate that i believed that for so long. i wish i could go back in time and have a re-do of like 75% of my childhood social interactions, haha -
ha, i feel that
i was thankful to have gotten a diagnosis for my adhd when i was in middle school (which wasn't too terribly long ago),
but i still struggle with it- i feel like maybe i should see if i could get a diagnosis for autism,
but idk for sure if i do, it's only speculation on my part. -
honestly, if you can and really want to, i'd say go for it! the number of people being diagnosed with both ADHD & autism seems to be rising over the years (i do not have any statistical proof, just commenting based on what i have read on social media, etc)

yeah, i feel like i should, but then my parents are always like, nah you don't have it, if the topic is brought up and and mention smth like "oh maybe i'm autistic lol"
i probably will sometime in the future, just to ease the curiosity n stuff haha
