Hello! I didn't want to come into your thread as I understand that is your safe space however, I'd like you to read this as you haven't been reading when I explained it to you earlier in the garden.
Please stop calling Halloween Demonic. You don't seem to understand what it's about, and it's a cultural holiday. Please stop. It's upsetting. It's an Irish custom, meant to chase out bad spirits and to honour our dead.
There's nothing to do with Satan in the original customs. -
And the commercialisation of Halloween does not make it satanic, before anyone tries to argue that. Our holidays are being appropriated, but that doesn't make them Demonic. The act of dressing up is used in various cultures to chase out bad spirits. Its nothing to do with Satan.
It's a genuine holiday, that many Irish pagans still practice properly and in full.
Its demonised because it wasn't easy for it to be stolen and changed. So please stop adding to that hate. Please. -
Actually, it seems I was a bit vague with what I just said there does exist Christian samhain. And yeah they changed it but it doesn't involve Satan.
Samhain is halloween BTW.
Halloween came from all hallows eve, the christianistion of Samhain. All saints day. It went from remembering the dead to remembering saints under the same tradition.
Generally, the only time Satan has ever been involved in this celebration I'd one single folk tale to explain a Jack of lantern...and it's a cautionary tale.
Here's a few sources in what samhain actually is.

In regards to what was posted on the lounge and in similar minds to Fae. If this is a cry for help, then we're listening. But if you genuinley believe this bigotry, then I'm not sure what to tell you.

If espie is online later can someone bump this for me.
-
I'm glad you posted this.
I think it's easy for someone like me to see that stuff and go "hahaha those silly christians, they're even mad about halloween? how ridiculous!" without really taking into consideration how genuinely hurtful it can be; especially to people who have already had to deal with systematic destruction of elements of their culture specifically in service of Christianity. It's good to be reminded that it's not just something frivolous and silly. -
Thank you, I appreciate this insight. And yes, Christianity has damaged many cultural religions and its something important to discuss and not shy away from. /gen

Since once again you are clearly avoiding interacting with someone genuinley trying to educate you;
You don't have to directly insult a person to be hateful. You're tearing down my culture and calling us Demonic despite me having attempted to explain this to you multiple times. It's fine to not celebrate what isn't fine is to blatantly call my cultures practices Demonic.
Ireland's history, our culture was destroyed by Christianity. This isn't something to debate on. Along with British imperialism, this is what f---ed over the other countries in the UK. That's a fact. I'm done acting as if I don't believe Christianity is responsible on here. It bloody was. It erased my culture to pander to its own beliefs.
And you're doing the exact same s---. -
Inb4 anyone comes at me for swearing, I'm not swearing at espie. Adding a cuss word doesn't mean I'm insulting her. So don't try to use that to deligitamise my issue with her behaviour. I'm angry, I'm upset and I have full right to be upset with her. So I don't want anyone coming in here with " she's entitled to her own beliefs"
Shes being hateful and bigoted.
Those fo you defending her, I assume are just so use to Christians being u fairly attacked and jumping to defend yourselves without reading what she's spewing.
Espie, God wouldn't isolate you to force you to worship only him. That's not the point of worship. God wants you to live as a human
That's the whole damn point of humanity. Made in gods images but with free will. -
I was initially thinking there was a misunderstanding in what Espie meant, but the further along it went, it actually became a little concerning. I was looking from a view that she was new to Christianity, and some people go a little overboard sometimes. My great grandmother was like that when she first became Christian, but I do agree with what you're saying, and especially the last point.
God does let people come and go in life, but to say that he isolates you is really worrying.
Everyone perceives holidays differently. There are some holidays I just don't celebrate, but everyone has some of those. I respect others who celebrate what I don't because that's what I was taught to do. The Bible says not to shame others for their personal practices, what they eat, what they wear, etc. It's okay to not celebrate holidays, but to say all holidays are evil and go by extremely strict rules does seem like cult behavior.
I wanted to educate Espie correctly on Christianity, but seeing that she's ignoring everyone, I assume she doesn't want help from anyone. I thought she was just having a hard time expressing what she actually meant, but apparently what she said was what she actually meant. I wanted to defend her because she's young and I didn't want to scare her off. I was hoping she would turn to others for help and advice, but that didn't happen. -
I get that, I thought so too. Especially since it seems she's found religion after extreme trauma, but her conduct from the very beggining has been hateful. Especially against a culture that had nothing to do eith her debate

ill read through hold up, sorry for the wait

Yep, no worries. I appreciate you taking the time to read it. I mean no personal offense against you and am ultimately just concerned, but also I am hurt as a practicing pagan, and an Irish person whose grown up in a very anti-irish area. It hurts and I'd just like for you to understand that.
-
I also wpuld like to apologise for my later posts. They defintley overstepped and got more negative than I believe was appropriate. I was very hurt and that showed far too much in my posting and I'm sorry for that.
