For me, i just randomly became sentient during a dream. and then i woke up.
I am not joking.
the dream was some weird thing
my parents were walking through my front door
and that's it -
I thought this meant like when you develop your sense of self as a kid. For me I swear i wasn't sentient until I was like 13.

I'll never have a stable sense of self, so by that token am I broken? Am I not a sentient person?

i just-- i never really had one. mine's always been shattered. i'm good at emotions, but it's hard for me to relate.

Well I remember something from when I was very VERY small and still didn't have much of a brain then

My first memory is my mother having a severe asthma attack while alone with me, I was 3 and didn't know what was happening. She managed to call an ambulance and they took her away. My grandfather picked me up while they wheeled her into the back of the ambulance. She never let me live that down and always told me that my inability to call 911 at 3 years old almost killed her đŸ˜‹ What a silly woman

My first memory was at 2. I was upstairs in my crib for nap time while everyone else was downstairs. I got upset because nobody was up there with me, so I climbed out the crib and crawled backwards down the stairs. When I got to the bottom, all I could hear was my mom screaming "Oh god! How did he get down here?!"
I sat there and laughed.
