And it doesn’t look good either up-close, it’s like cheating and tricking people into thinking your art is something it isn’t.
-
Don’t get me wrong, it looks gorgeous on pieces like this, with a cartoony style and simple shapes

What was that link hahahah
-
Adding texture like this looks nice because it doesn’t take away from the lines and the actual art itself
-
See? There’s just a slight but of texture, which looks really nice, it isn’t obvious but it gives it a nice finish.
-
Noise texture shouldn’t be like the main meal of the piece, the artist’s actual talent should be. The noise texture should be like some complementary thing on the side, like some parsley to a dish for the purpose of just completing the look
-
I mean honestly,
-
Plus, if you take the noise off of the art that uses way too much of it, it’s completely ruined. It looks bad because the artist didn’t take the time to really draw it nicely since they rely on the noise texture to get attention on their art
-
2. The people that use it reasonably, some that don’t depend on the texture to complete the look, and some others who have art styles that fit well with a little bit of texture
-
It’s subtle and it doesn’t draw attention
-
Ex:
-
It just fits the piece and compliments it, instead of taking over the entire piece.
-
And the 1. artists aren’t focusing on improving their art because as long as they have the noise layered onto it, no one pays attention to the quality of the piece **underneath** all the chaos
-
Like in all these examples, a little noise goes a long way-
-
But here it’s just photobombing the entire piece
