Okay.
I'm not talking about that, dumb---. -
I wouldn't. All antidepressants do is teach you how to depend on the pill to be happier or whatever. You're handicapping yourself. You're not really becoming a "better person," you're only giving yourself the illusion that you are because the pills are jacking with your brain. If you wish you were a better person, you should try some personal exercises to make your attitude the way you want it to be; I'm pretty sure pills wont fix that for you.

I agree with bunnie. I think you should only use pills as a last resort, if even that.

Noooooo! Don't do the mistake.
Don't take anti-depressant drugs until prescribed by a doctor. They are little useful but you will, later, get addicted to it. This will make you feel better for one moment but when you will feel depressed, you will feel it heavily. The pills will harm your body in one way or other. -
If I remember correctly, antidepressants don't actually make you happy. They give you energy to do what you normally would not be motivated or energized enough for. So if you think your issues are energy/mental illness based, you might want to talk to a doctor for a professional opinion. Otherwise, I'd say no. Only you can truly fix your attitude in most ways.

Only a doctor can really tell you if you need to take drugs. But I will say that if you are feeling deeply depressed, don't be at all resistant to taking medication. You might need to cycle through a few medications just find something that works. I've been on a few over the years. I've had good experiences with Lexapro and Prozac. I had a really bad experience with Cymbalta so I wouldn't recommend taking that drug.
