SoFab101 NewbieSo ive been homeschooled my entire life. It seems pretty cool, and i loved it when i was in elementary school. Now im in 8th grade, and its not so cool anymore. Most days im locked up in the house. On saturdays i go to synagouge where i have 1 friend. But i have not seen her since may. On sundays its "family time" and going groccery shopping and stuff. I grew up with my mom teaching me: "Friends are nice, but family is what matters!" I mean, if either one of my friends or my parents had to die, i would choose my parents to live. (Sorry lol) But i still want friends! There is even a lie going around in my homeschool group saying that being with family improves social skills. That may be true for a preschooler, but not for teens. My social skills improved when i started hanging out with girls my age. And when i was younger, my friends were my dolls. It weird right? My mom was all "lets be bffs!" And i was all "Okay!" But now that im older, shes still thinks im her best friend. I was reading online that teenagers need to have friends. Its part of growing up! Also, i work well in the classroom setting. Mom cant always teach that way. The subject came up recently and my mom said that if i really want to quit homeschool, i can next year for high school. I need some good reasons! And dont tell me "it prepares you for the real world!" Mom gives me homework,i cant do school in my pjs, we start a a spevific time, it is not relaxed at all! Im prepared enough! So PlzzzzzZZZZZ,ZZZZZZZZZZZZ help before november!

Do you have special needs? Do you have any problems that may possibly incapacitate you from going to an actual school?
I need to know that much before I can give you a direct answer. -
Just say what you have here, your social skills need improvement and that can't happen if you're stuck in homeschool. Although I was homeschooled through 5th grade (and had to redo it when I went to normal school, if you start going to high school, no matter what anyone says, DO NOT PUT YOURSELF BEHIND, IT WAS A VERY BAD DECISION THAT I'M HAVING TO PAY FOR, NOW.) Though don't expect it to be the perfect environment, because in at least the three years I was going to school (I'm homeschooled again, now) the whole thing went down in flames, mainly because I wasn't ready for the people that were going to give me bulls--- about every little thing. So just watch your back, okay? If you do that, you should be fine.

Failure NewbieJust so you know, I've always gone to public schools and my social skills are pretty much nonexistent.

SoFab101 Newbie@alex3000 i tried that, but mom was all "you dont need friends! You have us!" And then she tried taking me to events at plcs like the library to make friends. Big mistake! I made a friend, but obviously i cant see her like ever!
@1 twilight fan no, i dont have any special needs. Im homeschooled for religous reasons, but there is a christian private school nerby. 2 maybe. Im also homeschooled because mom had a bad experience with school, so she didn't want me to suffer (more than i have to, i mean).
