Thread Topic: the psychology beind labeling people.

Why do people resign to labels? What is the point of labeling and categorizing people and then preaching tolerant and shouting "don't judge people" from the roof tops?
-
Easier to navigate situations when you label.
-
There is a difference between labeling people and navigating a situation based on one's past performance.
-
We're pretty much at the point where calling someone a human or asking for one by their name is "labeling".
-
Yes, like even genders is labeling now

The use of the words judgement and label in this fashion bug me, but to answer your question i suspect we do these things just because we're relatively smart. Analytical minds with high powered memory will of course seek to critically organize their envireoment, but if course we're only human and scrutiny tends to make us uncomfortable, so we generally consider it polite to not stare so to speak. Whether with your eyes, mind, or voice. Yes its a somewhat hard thing to do givin our nature, and not everyone can manage it. Rightfully so.
