Thread Topic: I have a question, "normal people"...

Do "normal people" (ya know, people without disorders) live life without depression?
Like I mean... You're not happy all the time, right?
...Or am I just insane?
Because for me... Like, I just see how depressed people always are, and then in a few days I'll be depressed, then I'll be happy, then I'll be downright confused. I'm pretty sure I'm bipolar, maybe something smaller but with the same basics, but because of my stubbornness against psychologists, I never have been and probably never will be diagnosed. I guess I've kind of excepted depression as "normal" every day shlt... Am I wrong? -
This is not the thread for md

...What? ._.

People who are depressed rub their depressed feeling off on you and then you feel depressed and then you forget about it and feel happy again. I'm pretty sure you aren't bipolar.
-
No. ._. Not what I'm saying.
I get depressed on my own, then look at the world, and they're depressed too, and.

Nah, you're not bipolar, at least I don't think so.
I dunno about other people, but depression is 'normal' for me I guess. And just like you, I guess I have good days and bad days. Hopefully it's just a phase. I'm sorry, I don't really know what to say to help except maybe that I understand where you're coming from. -
Wait... ilovepuppyz, how old are you?

I assume "normal" people feel sad occasionally, but there is obviously a huge difference between sadness and the soul-shattering agony that is depression. Trust me, I've suffered from depression since I was 12, I know first hand what it is like. Not a day goes by where you feel like you will never be whole, and if not, then it is because you are denying how terrible it feels to even be alive. There is no real cure exactly, it basically comes down to mindset. You can choose to give in or you can choose to have positive experiences. If you are in fact bipolar then that is a different issue and a simple change of mindset isn't going to help.

"Normal" people feel sad for a reason. Depressed people feel sad without a reason.

I don't think any of you are really sure what depression actually is. Depression isn't sadness. It's the absence of all emotion. A healthy individual can allow themselves to be happy or sad. Depression is a defense mechanism in the brain where you don't feel anything for fear of your emotions hurting you physically or mentally. If you're saying you're okay one week but really down and apathetic the next, that isn't depression. That's normal human behaviour attributing a false diagnosis because a serious condition is glorified in our culture.
