"Trolling" as it's known today is the act of intentionally provoking anger for the sake of laughing at the persons who were provoked.
This definition usually allows for petty acts of provacation such as spam, slowing down on a single lane road to force the car behind you to wait additional minutes, or other acts of cheap annoyance at others expense; however, these acts lack the humor neccesery for the laugh at the end because even if rage is illicited, it is in response to significant, and impolite annoyance, therefore rational.
The only kinship such acts may share with trolling is the inent in which they are carried out. Therefore may be classified as unsuccesful trolling.
Succesful trolling requires a person to have a rationally designed, and optimally, polite statement or response.
This will ensure that the rage illicited is ridiculous and therefore easy to laugh at.
Succesful trolling is important to a culture because it illistrates areas of life which show logical fallacy, or are perhaps taken so seriously that they impede ones' own happiness.
The value of trolling is essentially it's ability to step outside the social parameters of belief and conviction and make an impartial call for selfish gain. Hence the state of nature.
Trolling is the anti-civilization so by extension, the quintessential face of evolution.
Evolution by which we adapt to ever changing envirement and rise to face new obstacles which would otherwise mean extinction for our societies, perhaps even species.
