Big Giant NewbieNegotiation?War?How about the people in Iran?
-
It's a country.
-
My opinion? I support the Iranian people who want peace and freedom. I think the government is disgusting, hateful, and extremist. We should avoid war until we or our allies are attacked.
-
I'm opposed to preemptive strikes. The easy answer to the problem of Iran is that we basically do what we do with North Korea. If they set off a bomb, we tell them to cease nuclear activities or face impending doom.
-
Big Giant NewbieThe people just don't deserve it.I'd say a war of some kind would be good that could help remove the government and let there be human rights in that country. They just don't deserve this.
-
War is never good for any country, especially the ones being invaded. And what starts as a war of liberation turns into a war of attrition, where the opposition wears civilian clothing and the invading force resorts to killing civilians.
-
Big Giant NewbieCome to think of it,how many people in Iran or even north Korea agree with the policy of their government? No one would like hatred, war or pain. They're humans in Iran too, just like us.
-
Pre emptive tactical strike. We replicate the Osariak strike, kill the ayatollah, their president, and cripple their facilities. We've tried negotiation, diplomacy has failed. What do you think we should do? Tell them to stop? They think they need nuclear weapons, and should Iran get a bomb, they now have a sword to hang over the entire MidEast. Which is the worlds source of oil, and the most religious area on the planet.
-
Oh boy. Dude, the world isn't like Call of Duty. If they get a bomb, all we have to do is threaten total annihilation and they'll back down. And even if a tactical strike worked, we'd still have to have an occupying force in the country, which is a gauranteed disaster for us and for Iran.
-
Here's what people think, in order to get anything done in a war, you need a massive amount of troops and support to invade the country. We move our strategic bombers, the F-117 and the B-2 to Saudi Arabia or Diego Garcia, with KC-10 refueling support. Then we use precision guided bombs and cruise missiles to hit high-value targets like nuclear facilities and chain of command, both political and military. Civilian deaths will be low, and we risk almost nothing. They'll see our aircraft for only a split second while they drop their bombs, and the cruise missiles are vertically impossible to detect because of their size. High reward, low risk, sounds like a winning plan Charlie.
-
Ok no. Like I said, there will have to be an occupying force. You can't simply expect everything to go right when you throw out an entire regime and alter the entire fabric of the state. And if there's an occupying force, there will be civilian deaths, there will be an armed resistance, and there will be casualities on our side. If we get to a point where Iran leaves us no other option, we should attack them, but preemptive strikes cannot be an option.

It's the only one we have problems with. Who does North Korea threaten? China, Japan, Australia? What advances Communism by nuking a communist country, or by roasting a few hundred kangaroos? Same goes for India and Pakistan. We trust, more or less, France, Isreal, The UK and Russia with their nukes. Iran has religious enemies to the west and south, and the balls to push the button. Which would, by the way, cut off and contaminate a vast majority of oil reserves. Which, last time I checked, was the leading commerce item in the world, and the lifeblood of the modern world.
-
There doesn't need to be an invasion. There is no need for the occupation of Iran. We put fear into them. We kill their chain of command, remove the nuclear facilities. If you were the new head on the Iranian government, would you think that nuclear weapons are worth ruin for your nation?
-
Thats why I thank God that Mccaine didn't get elected.
-
If everything went exactly as planned, the sanctions would've worked, and we would not be having this conversation now. If the new Iranian government fails to see the light, broaden the scope of attacks. Drop bridges, hot economic targets, make their current path one of ruin and national death. Say they do launch at our allies, we move Patriot to likely targets. All my plan needs is a few ships, a few planes, and a lot of bombs.
