Sadly, I do not think it will go away, ever. Some people are just wired to hate, and quite frankly I think American society is wired to hate as well. The civil rights movement ended 40 years ago, but there is still racism. So it really doesn't matter what happens as far as equality before the law goes, because in the hearts and minds of many, many Americans, gays and lesbians will always be inferior.
If you are sick of homophobia and don't want to live in a country that condones hate, you are better off not living in the United States. I would suggest Canada, any European country, maybe even China 30 years down the road. But not here. As long as we continue to allow the superstitious pseudo-paganism of Christianity to fester on the face of our society like a boil, we will always be a socially backwards country whose veiws are more in tune with the Third World than with industrialized countries. -

>Lives in Canada
Apparently there was a survey done in which over 50% of Americans are for Gay rights and marriage. Not sure if it was true, but I hope it is. -
Yes, but the other 50% are incredibly vocal in their disdain for homosexuals and will continue to be even after gay marraige is fully legalized.

That's all I have to say about that. -
FLgirl92 NewbieLOL Horseluver. Unfortunaely I think Tongue is right. There are always going to be people who hold on to their hate, and there will always be sheep to listen to the supposed holy men who use Jesus to spread hate.
-
No matter what someone's 'group', people in general are always going to be hateful toward someone who is different.
-
VoicelessVoice NewbieI'm not very hateful of anything. It just disappoints me that people can't learn to just get over it and move on. Shame on their parents for teaching them to hate too. Sometimes people don't hate by nature, they're coached by their parents to hate a certain group.
-
That's true, hatred is most efficiently passed from parent to next generation, sadly. :/

VoicelessVoice NewbieDad tells me to never use hate. And they both tell me I don't have to dislike what they dislike, I am in the okay to disagree and say I like it. Mom doesn't like rock music, she likes pop. I'm the opposite. We don't listen to music in the car unless it fits both our tastes. She likes SuG, so we listen to them. Same with dad. He likes country. So we listen to country rock. So there's a minor example.
My dad isn't big on the homosexual thing...It makes him nervous, because I'm the only child. But he says if it comes out to be that way, it's not going to change his love for me. He'll just be a bit upset that I won't give them grandchildren. I don't think dad's very fond of Jeremy, but he's okay with Evan and Jay because they're already together. My mom doesn't care either way.
They're both family-oriented, they want to see me have grandchildren. And I think mom wants another child herself. She asks dad and she's not too old to have more. I'd love a younger sibling. -
VoicelessVoice Newbienot very fond*

Aw, well that's nice. :3 And there is always adoption, or you could have a woman carry your baby if you wanted to pass down some of your genes. Of course that is if you wanted to, you shouldn't have children just to please your family. x3 I know Jeremy would make a good daddy. xD

VoicelessVoice NewbieI would love a child one day. Perhaps one carrier baby and one adopted. I Luke babies they're so cute but they can be troublesome.

dw1996 NewbieHomophobia is dumb. It is really just people wanting to control what you do in the bedroom.
