That's what both Canada and America are forced to do, quit because there's nothing left to do.

I'm pretty sure America had never signed in the first place, though. But they did make a pledge, along with China and India, to join. It will take effect in 2020, according to my sources. :P

Well, Canada quits, and America never joins in the first place.
Still, what does that tell you about how we run our economy? A whole lot depending on how you see it from a non-political view. -
I think we need to find a happy medium. I think some regulation would be okay, making sure our countries don't become waste dumps and extremely polluted, but spending a ton of money which could go to over regulation and government control isn't good either. What happened to that old fashioned idea where the government was supposed to be a light helping hand instead of a landlord?
The way I see it, big government and big business will screw you either way. They're both corrupt systems of power and greed. They should be used to balance each other out in reality; government makes sure illegal or dirty deals aren't being made with the businesses, and businesses through free enterprise give competition so the best product comes forward, without government enforcement. Of course, that hasn't been the case.
Also, on the point about healthcare, I think Canada and America have both screwed up. How do we ensure that our citizens get the coverage they need, which also means the surgeries and medications, without the long lines and waiting lists that bureaucracy has to offer? I think it is essential that we invest in preventive care first off. Why kick someone out who's in the early stages but when they're close to dying finally take them in? Even if you're heartless, it's still cheaper anyway then a large surgery.
And then it comes down to greed again. Everyone wants to make a buck. My brother and I were talking, and he's a mechanic. He knows several ways how you could make a car run on energy efficient fuel, even water. But what would happen if we converted to something where we didn't have to fill up on an expensive resource like oil? The oil companies would plummet and wouldn't have their consistent way to make money. It would have a world impact, what with Saudi Arabia and other crude oil nations.
So really, it seems doing the right thing isn't as profitable, and many times even costs money. But if we invest in our future we'll eventually be better off.
