tongue AdvancedMore places to sell liquor? Sounds cool to me. More money for the economy, more jobs. It actually makes alot of sense. I personally don't buy into restricting alcohol, no matter what the intention is. I also don't buy that more alcohol sellers leads to more teenage drinking. Drunk driving, maybe, but not teen drinking. You really wanna reduce the dangers of underage drinking? Lower the drinking age to 18. The reason binge drinking is such a problem on college campuses is because it's the only place someone under 21 can drink, and the culture encourages drinking to excess. If you allow them a place to drink legally, the risk of alcohol related death is cut signifigantly.
Yes to 1183! Too bad I don't live in Washington. -
tongue AdvancedTo those of you who didn't search the link, 1183 is a ballot iniative in Washington calling for more places to be authorized to sell liquor. If it were passed, registered liquor vendors would increase fivefold (x5). I personally think it is a good opportunity for tax revenue and entrepeneur, nor do I think it poses the risk that Protect Our Communities does. I would suggest doing a search just to see the other side of the argument.
