Thread Topic: All cops are b------s? I find that hard to believe.

So since road is... I can't even find the words to describe whatever the f--- happened there, I made an argument thread.
@bread
Yes, corruption will ALWAYS exist, no matter how much people try to snuff it out.
However, the idea that everyone in a position of power should be mistreated for the actions of other corrupt individuals (that have 0 relation aside from sharing a job) is a horrible mentality to have.
Yes, corruption will always exist, but that fact goes both ways. There ARE, and ALWAYS WILL BE, cops who specifically joined the force to uphold the law. To claim that those people don't exist is simply ignorant.
Also, interesting you implied that it was a majority.
Care to elaborate?
I would love to see the stats, if you are willing to provide a source. -
Same thing I said in roads there Im saying here:p

Huh? Oh, road told me to f--- off their thread, I didn't see your message.

They've told you many times to stay out of their threads, they have reasons to be annoyed
-
Yeah but the thread was made in response to something I said earlier, so it didn't come to mind

Cops are not being "mistreated." Cops are being held accountable for mistreating others.

Not sure what you're trying to say here but it sounds like you're saying it's the victims' faults for being brutally murdered by cops. Police should never use lethal force unless the "suspect" is actually dangerous.
There ARE, and ALWAYS WILL BE, cops who specifically joined the force to uphold the law
Absolutely, this is undeniably true. However, this is like someone becoming a Stormtrooper because they want to uphold the law and protect others. They may have good intentions, but they are joining a bad and abusive system.
Also, interesting you implied that it was a majority.
Not sure what you're referencing here -
I'm not getting into this but i have an uncle who is very nice and just got promoted to Lieutenant in the police force. not ALL police are bad :p
-
The way you said "some cops", is what I was referring to. The tone came off as "some cops might wanna do good but most cops suck."
Absolutely, this is undeniably true. However, this is like someone becoming a Stormtrooper because they want to uphold the law and protect others. They may have good intentions, but they are joining a bad and abusive system
There are enough differences to where i can safely say that this statement is a bit of a stretch. You're comparing an army controlled an authouritarian empire to Law enforcement.
Notable differences include: stormtroopers are soldiers, NOT police officers, even if they are at times used as such. (Though from what I remember, that only happens on occupied colonies and such.) Being a soldier is completely different from being a police officer.
Also, police officers can do something about the inherent issues with the system by, speaking up. For example, there's no rule saying you can't report another cop for breaking the law. I should remind you that times where cops have done awful things (AFAIK) usually end in the cop getting arrested.
Another thing: I may not have the best understanding of psychology, but,
They may have good intentions, but they are joining a bad and abusive system.
Please explain how this makes any f---ing sense at all.
AFAIK, intentions matter more. If a man tries to bomb a neighborhood but f---s up and fails, that doesn't make him a good person for being too incompetent to commit terrorism.
Similarly, if you join the police force specifically to do good, that doesn't make you a b------ for joining a corrupt system.
(Most) Cops devote their entire life to protect the innocent, and what do they get for it?
They get mocked, harassed, etc. Because people who happen to share a job with them do bad things. -
