I'm actually thinking maybe 13+ for phones?
might just be me. Idk. -
I saw this video today and its making me start to rethink my stance on this. I'll see if I can find any official research done on Gen A that may corroborate it.
The video is just an ask reddit and it has a lot of teachers claiming that kids who grow up with technology are starting to demonstrate healthier internet usage, and are generally more creative, display higher empathy, and are able to grasp abstract concepts at an earlier age.
All that to say, be open-minded. Perhaps by the time we all have our own kids the internet will be a different place and a positive force for youth. -
I still think young kids should only be using devices for a small amount of time because they're meant to be running around and playing and burning off that energy so they can sleep good at night. Also because it's garboge for your eyeballs

Social Media Definitely 13+ I used to play Roblox when I was smaller and I online dated and didn’t know what I was getting into and a lot of bad stuff happened
Phones are probably a 11 I’d say I got a landline phone when I was 10 but I was a lot more mature then other kids and I knew how to use and when to use it -
I think children's online time should be regulated
-
Phones should be for 10+ year olds
and social media should be for 13+ year olds.
As someone who was given technology and the internet at a VERY YOUNG AGE- *cough* seven years old *cough* I got into bad stuff, especially since I was addicted to it. I was getting dopamine from it thanks to my ADHD and couldn't get enough of it. I had no boundaries and got in trouble often because of it. So yeah... it should be for certain ages. -

I know someone (who is younger than 13) who’s parents give them way too much freedom and don’t monitor them. They dated two old men online (one who was 19 and another who was 36), and they said they asked them out first with the men knowing their age. They’ve sent nudes to a bunch of people, and even tried to hook my sister up with a random old man online to which we both blocked them. They also tried to hook my friend up with a random guy online and even shared THEIR ADDRESS to an old man that they were dating at the time.
This really opened my eyes to the importance of monitoring your kids on electronics and knowing the appropriate age for kids to handle the internet. For instance, kids are only one click away from seeing p0rñ0gr4phy, to which can sprout addictions or trauma. It is a must for parents to monitor their kids and know the appropriate age for kids to get on the internet.
The age varies. It depends on the kid’s responsibility, and how mature they are. I think the minimum for me would be 13, just when they have a bit of an idea of self control and responsibility. But if the kid isn’t mature yet, don’t let them on. It might even be until they move out until they’re allowed on. -
I feel like children should be able to have access to the social media platforms around the age of twelve sense most social media is filled with lots of creepy people sadly. Children before that age should have access to technology still just in kid mode things like YouTube kids.
