Thread Topic: a thought about women and wars

Men are the traditional warriors of society, because quite frankly, you can lose a lot more men than women, and still have no reduction in size to the next generation. So it follows natrually, in a life or death situation like wars, you want to protect the women, and then if possible the children....maybe a female child would be the most perfect object to protect, but i digress. The point being it makes more sense for men to fight than it does for women to.
And this this is evident in history.
But lately, modern military accepts women...why is that?
is it because at this point we have so many men women and children that we can afford to kill off extra women? If so, sexual defined labor division isn't instinctual but well considered, in that case. We were pretty damn smart from the get go.
Or maybe its because other nations with smaller military decided they could bolster their ranks by sacrificing some females, reasoning (perhaps?) That by giving up 10 they save the other 90.
Maybe im response to that, other nations followed suit, in order to keep up with the troop size
also, what about the celts who were known for having plenty of women in their military? -
Agree about the first bit.
But the rest, you're not thinking in the right way. It's not about killing off women or sacfricing them. It was about equality...women started to do the same jobs as men and this was one of them.
Also we don't lose a large number in wars at the moment so that part isn't necessary, its primarily a job. -
Interesting question, I will have to look into it.
-
Woah woah woah woah. Females are not objects, nor are we just there so men can f--- us to make more children. Women were pretty much never allowed in the military because these were the two things that we were seen at throughout history. And now we're are more equal, so why not join the military? It's our country too, and we deserve to fight for it as much as men do. We're not sacrificing ourselves, we're joining the military because it's a personal choice, and we want to.
And then there were the Amazons, so it's not like this is the first time women are fighting. -
Lol DOA, theres actually not a lot of evidence to suggest the amazons youre talking about ever really existed. I did cite a real historical culture that included women in their military, but they were probably not the first.
and then also, well, yeah women do literaly exist so men can f--- them xD but take heart because at least in this men arent any different from women. Both sexes exist because we've evolved to sexually reproduce, and all species of exist with the goal of reproduction. -

Im thinking now that it makes a lot of sense that we just have a huge surplus of women
-
My girlfriend also pointed out to me that in modern warfare, we have fewer casualties than ever before. Which would make it more reasonable a choice for us, population wise
-
That makes even more sense
-
Women have the same reason to fight as men, a job and want (or at least willingness) to serve their country or whatever else they view the war as.
-
Although what women reason doesnt reeeaally matter.
-
My bad, I forgot that men were the master race and had the only minds that matter.
-
Well to be fair, its not a gender specific irrelevance. Just that regardless of personal reasoning, our social trends exist for economic reasons.
In this case, that its better for your population solidity to throw men at dangerous jobs than women.
Now whether men or women can be motivated to join the military has no bearing on the fact that when women die it does things that dont happen when men die. For better or worse...probably for the better since we are reasonably prosperous as a species... -
What do you mean it has a different affect if women die? Both are needed for the population if that's what you mean.
-
I mean that if one women dies its harder to recover from that then if 10 men die
