If you go to live in Russia do the Russian people say oh look an American, let's just all abort out native language because we want more people to live in our country! Let's all start teaching English in school and give american people who sneak there way into our country money, jobs, and the right to vote. That is a great idea!
If they did then they would be as foolish as America, so that is my obscure reason for why if you live in America you need to learn to speak our language and follow our rules.
OK I'm done now, -
First of all, Wendee, your argument is stupid and has no bearing on what I had been thinking about.
I was thinking more about how we hardly teach foreign languages here. And if you speak a foreign language around people, they get p---- . This makes it hard to learn more languages. How will our world connect when we just want to force them to learn English? -
Hardly teach foreign language!?? Were do you live!? America is failing and no one will do anything about it closed and center. I'm sorry, I know what you are talking about and it just reminded me of a different topic. I was really tired yesterday so I shouldn't have posted that I'm sorry. Ignore me.
-
Please. I am really not myself right now and going on two hours of sleep so excuse my dumb words and terrible grammer.

This is a bit of an odd topic for me. I work for a government agency and we're required to provide forms regardless of what language someone speaks. If we don't, it is considered discrimination because we are basically denying people services based on national identity. So I get why Zero is annoyed, because as much sense as it makes that you should learn the publicly spoken language of the country you live in, actually instituting a national language opens the door to a lot of possible discrimination.
-
*makes sense. Sorry for the confusion.
-
Also why are we comparing ourselves unfavorably to Russia? You know they have no freedom of the press there, right?
-
I don't mind it. I think it's funny when somebody is ignorant enough to dismiss learning another language. I was raised speaking two languages, though, so I might be a bit biased.
-
if you want to learn to speak different languages then go ahead, I personally love language and am currently learning dutch and stupid. so yeah, usually the people who you talk to about being tolerant and that sort of thing are really ignorant of life. All I ask is that if you want to move to America, learn to speak English and become an American citizen. That is all I ask.

I think America is just pure screwed up.
If you're born in America, of course, you are taught only English. As you grow older, they start teaching you more languages, but most places don't offer classes like that, and if they do, they had s---ty teachers who don't know the language. If I was planning on moving to Japan and I'm from America, I'm not going to f---ing survive there if I don't pay money for a half ass teacher. -
Finally something I think we all can agree with.
America is so screwed up I think they striped the screw. -
Keno Joyous NewbieAnd why is America "pure screwed up" just because some "places" have a poor selection of teachers and/or poor profits?
