For those of you who don't know who Edward Snowden is, he basically leaked a bunch of information about how the United States government is spying on its own people. He left the United States to avoid prosecution by our government and lives in Russia. Technically what he did was illegal because what he leaked was designated as secret, but I consider Snowden a hero and I think he is more than deserving of the award. I wanted to say something about this because in the past, the Peace Prize has been awarded to people who actively fought governments in places like China and Burma which have totalitarian dictators. Now an American could do the same thing for taking on our government. That thought is scary because it basically puts our government in the same category as brutal totalitarian regime states, either fairly or unfairly, but that doesn't matter. Just remember one thing: no person, no authority, and no government can tell you what is right and what is wrong, and if you ever have to go against your government when it is wrong, you should never for a second think you are wrong to do so. Tyranny will never survive in America so long as we have people who are willing to question the government and expose their lies for the world to see.

This guy deserves a holiday more than mlk of course he needs a nobel prize.

Snowden is a national hero, but in true Geek fashion, you just couldn't bring yourself to praise him without taking a textbook right-wing potshot at someone else. Educate yourself fully on MLK and the things he achieved before you disparage him.

Snowden is what this country needs more of, honestly. I don't see the need to take away from MLK though.

I didn't mean that in an mlk offending way :/
