tongue ExperiencedFor those of you who don't know what it is, Don't Ask Don't Tell is the military's policy towards homosexuals. Basically it means they can serve but not openly. Sounds fair, right? Wrong. Turns out our military has lost alot of good soldiers and intel officers because of this policy. Actually, to counteract those losses, the military has started allowing more violent criminals into their ranks. So gays can't be in the military because straight soldiers fear they'll be raped, but we'll let people in who actually have raped people.
The bottom line is this- DADT forces people to hide who they are, and it says a certain group of people aren't good enough to fight for their country. It needs to end now. -

considering DADT is all but repealed, its safe to say that tongue's statement is the opinion of most people

tongue ExperiencedIt will be eventually. The military has proven to be a driving force of social change. The military was the first institution to racially integrated, and it wouldn't be long before segragation ended and the Civil Rights Movement came about. Now that gays can serve their country, the sky is the limit for LGBT rights.

My mom was reading an article online about this, and it said Military allows gays to join.
Me and my mom had a convo about this.
Me: It's dumb how they didn't let gays in before.
Mom: No it's not, they need to know that they're stupid.
Me: They're not stupid, they're helping the military. So what if they have different views from others, that's their choice. We don't need to judge.
Mom: *silient for a while* Okay, that's your opinion. Now let's change the subject.
