Thread Topic: The U.S. spies on Pena Nieto.

Feel free to correct me if anything I've said is incorrect. I was hearing the story while doing something maybe I caught something wrong.
Anyways, basically what the thread topic says. They were spying on him during the presidential election in Mexico last year.
My thing is, if they were to spy on anyone from that election wouldn't it have been that nutjob Obrador? Seriously. I understand Pena Nieto is all for the PRI and that the U.S. doesn't understand and possibly doesn't like PRI. But what business did they have spying on Pena Nieto? Aside from the PRI's usual fraud (which, trust me, if it were such a big problem then for f---'s sake where was the U.S. during Venezuela's election?) it wasn't like he was threatening the U.S. or anything. In fact if I remember correctly he wanted to strengthen bonds. So this is either just because Pena Nieto is PRI or because he's Mexican or because the U.S. is really getting to be full of paranoid people. Maybe all three.
I'm not a big fan of Pena Nieto myself so don't believe this is just me going off because I worship him for being young and handsome or whatever. But what really caught my eye was that he was actually speaking about the subject and he seemed kinda upset by it. The guy isn't one to convey that type of emotion when he speaks. Serious, yes, but not necessarily upset.
Am I the only one thinking that sometimes, or always, the U.S. just seems to be ACHING to cause trouble? Because it really seems that way. Congrats, America. You pissed off your neighbor yet again. -
America always wants trouble.

Sometimes I contemplate moving to Canada. owo

This is somewhat unrelated to the topic but it'll do.

The United States has a long history of heavy-handed policy towards Latin America. Spying is on the light end of the spectrum. Just ask all the people who "disappeared" under U.S. supported military rule in Chile.

It's funny because Chile still remains to be the U.S.' 'puppet'. But yeah, ever since that thing the U.S. started back in the 1900s that had to do with being the 'policeman for the "world" ', they've just been going too far.
