Feminist
Adria Richards eavesdrops on other people's conversations, takes personal offense at largely innocuous private jokes, assigns sexual connotations to the words of others, takes photographs of the 'offenders' without their consent and uploads the image to her Twitter account to publicly shame them, with a father of three subsequently losing his job as a result. She then takes to her blog to claim 'victory' and compares herself to Joan of Arc.
Women's rights activist
Ayaan Hirsl Ali is a famous Somali-Dutch writer, politician and founder of the women's rights organisation the AHA foundation. She is a prominent critic of Islam which caused death threats and assassination attempts. In 2005, she was named by Time magazine as one of the 100 most influential people in the world and also received several awards including a free speech award, the Swedish Liberal Party's Democracy Prize, and the Moral Courage Award for commitment to conflict resolution, ethics, and world citizenship.
Alright, if you have an issue with the fact I don't trust most feminists, go ahead and say it now. -
No you are completely right. The feminazis suck big time. They need some good dick if you ask me.
-
This just makes me f---ing sad, really. I remember when all I heard about feminists were people like you described in the second paragraph, not f---ers like in the first one. I've actually heard people use b----es like that first paragraph as an excuse to make degrading jokes towards all women, and then call them a "b----" or a "feminazi" because they didn't like the fact that women's whole struggle was just practically pissed on.
-
The name "feminist" has been soiled. It's been twisted and warped to the point it's as much of an insult as it is a good thing. So when people tell me they're feminists, I usually ask them to explain that a bit better. If they say they want women's rights instead of equal rights, I usually get a little worried. This is about equality, not empowering one side.
-
Only recently have I ever heard "feminist" and "women's rights activist/gender equalist" NOT used interchangeably. Personally I believe in pure equality, not supremacy of one gender. A rule of thumb I have is to think of the thing I plan to support falling into place for the other gender, then think about what the equivalent would be for my gender. If I don't like that equivalent, I don't support it.
-
Tis a good rule of thumb.
-
Basically, do unto others as you would do unto yourself.

fairy tales got something right.

This is why I call myself an egalitarian, which is someone who campaigns for equal rights for all.
Same as the original meaning of feminist, but with a name that hasn't been f---ed over. -
I believe in equal rights for all. It does seem that feminists are pretty pushy, sometimes to the point where they think they should be treated better than men. Hopefully there will come a day where all this s--- about feminism and equal rights will be resolved and there won't even be questioning about rights.
-
Anyone who supports womens rights are douchebags.
End of story. -
I believe in equal rights.
hey, men, remember when woman weren't even aloud to vote? We had to cook and clean and sew and that's it. We've never had a female American president. how ever, I like the way things are now, with equal rights. -
I don't understand. If feminism is supposed to be men and women are equal, why is it called feminism?
-
"The women's liberation movement is a central part of the American socialist revolution
in the making." -Trotsky -
The "Equal rights" we have today aren't true equal rights. They're forced equality. Instead of making double standards illegal, they've created a new double standard in pampering and bonuses.
By law, so many women have to be incorporated in to larger companies. Even if a man and a woman are applying for the same job and the man is obviously more qualified, if the company hasn't met the quota for the amount of women they're supposed to have working for them, they will be forced to take her instead of the more qualified counterpart even though he is more qualified for the position.
A woman has full reproductive rights to her body and by extension the child. (I'm not going to talk about the technicalities of this, that's not the topic.) A woman has full reproductive rights to her body and by extension the child. If she doesn't think she can support the child it is HER right to offer it up for adoption, HER right to suggest abortion, and HER right to decide if she wants to carry it to full term. I have no issue with that. BUT if she does decide to carry it to full term, the father is legally obligated to pay for the child. He is forced to pay child support no matter what. If he doesn't willingly pay child support, he can either be thrown in prison or have the money forcibly taken out of his paycheck.
In our society, "women's rights" are not enforcing equality. They are empowering the opposite.
