Thread Topic: Okay, so. Religious family members+ homosexuality.

First of all, I support gay rights and am not religious. (I used to be a couple years ago, check out old posts in the Religion forum....)
My family members also support gay rights, but in a sort of prejudiced way. I'll explain that later. They are fairly religious and strongly spiritual, and they don't question the existence of God (the Christian one, they're Christians).
They said something that made me throw up a little just a few minutes ago.
"I think of homosexuality as a mental disorder, and therefore we shouldn't judge them, but it is unnatural and wrong"
NO. JUST f---ING NO. Let me tell you why that's bulls---.
First of all, homosexuality is found in nearly all species of animals. If you want to go the "natural" route, I'll show you "natural."
Some animals are capable of changing their gender. Some will have relationships regardless of gender.
"But we're humans!"
So f---ing what? Not all humans are male or female. Even if that were the case, in the early days of humans they were polygamous. Want to argue that polygamy is natural? (Which it may be.)
All of that aside. You're assuming the only purpose of sexual attraction is reproduction. Sexual attraction is not just reproduction but a way of intimately bonding with another member of the species. If you say the only purpose is reproduction, congratulations. You just justified rape. After all, reproduction happens, it's not like it matters what the victim is feeling, right?
a--hole.
Now for the political connotations of what you just said, that's the same logic used to dominate the African people and women.
Europeans, during the age of imperialism: "Hey let's spread our capitalism and our rule to the Africans, they totally can't be a civilized people on their own so let's have pity on them for not being white."
Men, throughout the history of imperialism and capitalism: "Oh, women are born weak because they're women. Let's have pity on them and regulate their bodies and what they can do because they totally can't take care of themselves."
THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT YOU SOUND LIKE.
Not to mention religion, let's not even talk about religion. Your exact same god says women are inferior. Go read my quote in religion if you want more.
It was just so f---ing disgusting. I apologize for any logical or grammatical errors made during this rant. -
BTW, I'm not saying *all* men think that way. f---, some WOMEN do, too, and that's deeply disturbing.
-
Jesus H. Christ, are people still calling it a mental disorder? Ugh.
-
They are, apparently.
-
Oh God I have so much to rant off about right now. But I don't want to piss anyone off. *locks mouth shut and hides key for when I just don't give a siht who I piss off anymore*
-
Well? Why not? You have every right to, just as I did. Just do it in a seperate thread.

If someone could actually link to an article or tell me a few of the species on the homo animal list, I've heard a few people say that and not sure wether it's aetheist bull (not saying christians don't make bull either, theirs is just different).
On the sexual attraction thing, you said that sexual attraction purely for reproduction is a--holey. Yet you didn't say a word towards it not being true.
I fail to see how this last paragraph ties into anything, it seems that this some kind of attack at christians in some way. Africa bit aside (I don't support it, it's just seeming irelevant), most men I know of at least support equal rights, which is what we have now before it tips to the womens side (they can literally get away with murder and have done), not saying I'm against the ways things currently work as things were even greater tipped towards men earlier. If this somehow involves pregnancy that's sadly how nature made it.
Sorry for an stupidity or logical errors also. Just woke up. -
Here's an article on homosexual animals:
Wikipedia also has an actual list:
And did I say one of the purposes of sexual attraction WASN'T reproduction? Obviously it is, I was saying that it's not its ONLY purpose.
But some men still DO. And so do some women. I added on to that part in the second post because I realized it sounded like I was accusing all men of thinking that way, which I wasn't. -
If homosexuality is immoral because there is no possibility for reproduction, then by that logic sterility is also immoral.

What?
If you're born with a penis you're male (XY)
If you're born with a vagina you're female (XX)
