The death toll hasn't settled yet, but right now only a few people are dead. Right now this strucks me more as an event that doesn't "fit within the plan" than a total catastrophe. 31 people are murdered in this country everday. But were used to it. We aren't used to people dying while watching the Boston Marathon. Maybe the death count goes up though and that changes. Considering that 2 IEDs went off in a crowded area and less than 100 people were injured and only a handful people died, I would almost consider the result of this act of violence fortunate. I would hate to say that to anyone who lost someone today, of course. But then again, I think we would also hate to tell anyone who has lost someone to gang violence or domestic violence that their death was part of the plan, and yet we allow it to happen everyday.

A little bit of factual cleanup on my part: there are 130 people injured. 2 dead. 2 deaths is fortunate still IMO.

dani123 JuniorUpdate, I heard 3 dead. One is an 8 year old boy who ran to the finish line to hug his dad and another is a woman in her twenties. I heard her boyfriend was going to propose to her after the race but she didn't make it ... The third one hasn't been identitied but they did say there's a third person dead.
It upsets me to see people getting their legs or arms amputated. I feel for all of those affected by the bomb and hope they'll pull through. The images, especially the ones where people with blood all over their body, face etc are horrible. I hope they find the person responsible and make s/he pay the consequences. -
When I saw it on the news my heart just reached out to them. I feel so useless though.
We are without doubt the most horrible, selfish, murderous creatures on this planet. We are worse than the characters invented in horror movies and books. We are worse because things we do aren't made up. It actually happens. People actually kill others in cold blood for their own evil, selfish, blood pulsing desires.
It makes me feel ashamed. -
Geek don't go saying it was the sadys. That's called picking a scapegoat. The bombs might have been made by a fellow American. Also I feel sorry for what happened in Boston. That was stupid! Why would you bomb the Boston marathon! It's sick. I feel sorry for all the victims and the 3 dead. They didn't deserve to get hurt or die.

It is probably a lone-wolf, home-grown terrorist. Almost certainly someone who lives in Boston and knows the significance of Patriots' Day in that city. The day itself may have some political significance to the motivation of whoever did this, but that's hard to say. It could easily just be some scumbag who wanted to top the b------s who shot up a movie theater and an elementary school. In that case, the gov't jumped the gun in treating it as an act of terror.

Update: The two guys who bombed the Marathon are Russians, one of them is dead, and the other is still on the run. Local police and the FBI have Boston on lockdown looking for the SOB.

Disregard my last:
The bomberrs are Checnyans. For those of you who don't know, Checnya was an old Soviet republic under the USSR in the Cold War. When the USSR fell apart, Checnya became a warzone. The fighters there have been fighting the Russians since about 1989 to now. Checnyans have been attacking soley Russian targets, until Boston. The Checnyans have some of the best gurella-style fighters in the world, and American/ISAF/NATO forces have seen them in Afganistan. -
