dw1996 NoviceOur military f---s up a lot, that's for sure. But that is the only thing you are right about. I'm positive that most of the people who serve in our military would want no part in killing American civilians. There really isn't any reason for owning a semi-automatic with a high capacity magazine. It is useful for hunting but by no means neccessary. Allowing these kinds of weapons just contributes to more violence like the kind that happened in Newtown, CT.

But guns don't lead to violence. Sick and messed up people do. When someone wants to kill they will get the weapon no matter what. If a criminal has to get a gun through the black market, he will. There's no stopping it and banning guns, even if it's just semi-automatics, will actually lead to more violence. Look at human psychology. When someone knows that it will be easy to do something that he or she wants to do, he or she will do it. When a law-abiding citizen no longer owns a semi-automatic weapon for protection and will be unarmed or have a much slower gun, it's practically an open invitation for any criminal who wants to steal or just plain and simply kill.
