This jerk, he's the same age as you are, who everyone's been comparing me to since I was little. Our parents are friends, and mom's always comparing me to him.
In second grade, Ben only got one reminder.
I'm struggling not to get any so that I can be a better kid than he was.
Ben is the master of gestures! He wins the speech tournament.
I try for the next three years to even grasp the level they saw him at.
Ben's on student council. He was elected two years in a row.
I work my ass off in a popularity contest I know I had no chance at from the beginning.
Now he's a few grades ahead in math and got a role in his high school's play. Guess who has to try to compete with him to be in a higher math class. Oh, and get the leading role in my high school's play.
I hate Ben. Except nobody hates Ben, because he's such a nice, sweet guy. -
You are not a ben, you do not have to be like a ben... Next time your mom compares you to him, tell her how much it bugs you. And if you get yelled at... I apologize in advance... but that is what I would do.
