He continued listening to their chat solemnly.

Elli and Alek both nodded. "We'll go to the hospital tomorrow. So you can see Dimitri. And the funeral is in a couple days."

Somehow, he felt horrible about it. Like for some reason it was partially his fault having to have made Ivan wait to get to Russia.

Ivan nodded. "okay." the years were beginning to gather in his eyes again. "I'll be heading off to bed then." he said and left to his room.

Giovanni was seated for a while, but followed behind him in a hurry.

Ivan had his face buried in his pillow, and was crying.

Giovanni crept over and hugged him tightly. He refrained from crying himself.

Ivan turned over, years still coming from his eyes and hugged Giovanni back.

He wiped off Ivan's tears with the sleeve of his shirt.

"Thank you for coming here with me."

"I would never leave you behind," he muttered to him.

Ivan nodded and kissed Giovanni.

He kissed back, holding him tightly.

"Giovanni?" Ivan said softly, between kisses.

"Yes?" he replied, in the same way.
