When we were out of view, I pulled him around the corner. "Da? Da?! DA!?! ARE YOU TRYING TO GET US KILLED?"

"Jesus, Kaden. It's ja... just let me do the talking? Please? Practice or something. You'll get medical leave of absence anyways."

I nodded, staring at the ground. "Just tell them I'm mute or something. That way I won't mess anything else up."

"No, you cant be mute! You're a commander, first of all. You have to report with me to the Furher, second. And 3, you cant join the military if you're mute!"

"Hm. I've seen it done before."

"In America maybe!" I looked down. "Listen Kaden... you... you cant be mute... I need to talk to you!" I wrapped my arms around him.

I hugged him back. "I know, I'm sorry. I'll try my best. It's hard, though."

I nodded. "For you, I'll do anything."

I pecked him on the cheek and continued walking down the hallway.

I followed him down the hall, wondering what the future might hold for the two of us.

We reached the door. The title was in German, surprisingly. A man in uniform invited us into a waiting room looking place.

There were plastic chairs lined up by the back wall. He instructed us to take a seat.

I heiled and sat in the one closet to the other door.
