I decided to get it over with. I slapped him, but it was light and resembled more a pat then a slap.

"You can do better than that, you slut." I was trying to get her to hit me like she meant it.

"Excuse me!" I was outraged.

I punched him, HARD. I was furious and confused and broken. I didn't understand why he was treating like this. I thought he loved me.

I fell on the ground, seeing stars and rubbing my jaw.
"Now we're even." I said after awhile. -
"Even?! Is that what you were doing?! How could you call me that?!" I was still confused and that made me angry.

"I needed you to react." I said, standing up. "Go ahead and hit me again if you want to."

I had so many feelings mixing around inside me that tears sprang to my eyes. "I don't understand."

I wiped the tears away and whispered in her ear.
"I'm sorry, baby." -
I cried into his shoulder. All the things that had gone wrong, the emptiness that longed for my parents, the terrifying truth that we might not last to the next day, all streamed out in my tears.

Even though my shirt was soaked, I didn't pull away. In fact, I pulled Nik closer, nuzzling her neck.

The tears were running low and I took a deep shuddering breath.

"Its okay, I promise." I whispered. "You'll be okay..."

I looked up into his eyes. "It's not just me I'm worried about."
