"I strongly advise you to quit while you're ahead. I'd be more than happy to add more charges to the list pending." He narrowed his eyes at the man in handcuffs before shutting the door and driving the cruiser off to the station.
"I can tell you're not," Travis said. "I'll meet you somewhere."
I swallowed. "No... Ugh, fine. In front of the restaurant from earlier." -
"I don't f---ing care!" I screamed. Maybe if I keep cool...
-
Jeez, my retainer KILLS right now. :/
In a few minutes I was standing in front of the restaurant, crying in Travis's arms.
C: Yay. -
Whut...
"I apologise deeply, officers." -
"Apologies don't serve justice, kid," an older officer said.
-
"I never said they did."
-
He shook his head scornfully. "I feel bad for you, kid. The city judge already has a thing against you. You've been beating his sister."
"He's gone... It's okay..." he held me close, murmuring comforting words in my ear.
"You did this!? I told you not to... I told you to stay out of it!" I broke away from his touch. -
"What are you talking about!?"
-
"Judge Torrington is Laci Torrington's brother. She never told you?" The cruiser pulled into the station.
"Laci... He was going to kill you..." Travis's voice was pleading.
I shook my head. "I don't care. I love him."
He took a step towards me. "What he's doing to you... That's not love. That's abuse." -
"No... but I haven't laid a finger on her!"
-
"We have evidence. Phone conversations, complaints from neighbors. There's no escaping this." They pushed him into the station and into a small holding cell.
I stared at him. "Then what the hell is?!" -
I squinted at them.
-
They locked the cell after him and stalked off to the break room to grab a donut.
He stood there, speechless. I turned to leave, but he grabbed me by the arm. He pulled me towards him and kissed me gently. I kissed back before realizing what was going on. -
I stood tall, scowling at where the gaurds had stood.
-
I pulled away a bit, my eyes flickering up to his. "No... I can't.." I whispered.
