Because the site has become ugly.
When I first arrived here, GTQ was a young and growing site. We only had a couple dozen members, and we were all innocent then. Offbeat was a place for random parties or talking about your zombie plan. Psychology was for real emotional problems and how certain things made you feel. Religion was a place where we could come to understand and discuss things. Dating was for cute stories about the people you like or happy things with the person you like.
Everything was golden. Since then things have gone down hill. The first thing to scar this site was the soap operas. They spammed almost every forum and broke the idea that certain places were sacred. They are also what first brought cyber sex onto this site. People started trying to fuck other members and it was all one big orgy. This once again evolved into playing out fan-fics about anime characters. GTQ members fulfilled made up fantasies and grew falsified bonds though fictional characters. Spamming up every forum until nothing was sacred anymore. This was the fall of our camaraderie. GTQ no longer worked together towards a common goal. We opened the hole for drama and teen angst to pour into our once pristine site. With all the mix of emotion came the hate. The religious debates started. No one was safe in their own shoes anymore. Throughout all of the soaps and cyber sex and hate threads, new profiles started to emerge. People couldnt speak their minds or be themselves because of the stigmas that they were given. They had to lie to be accepted in a place they once called home. This started the legions and the secret police. People unified to stop the enemy that they had created with their own hate. Cliques started to form and people started excluding each other.
Through all of this, older users lost hope. They started to leave one by one because they saw how what was once beautiful turned scarred and ugly. Only the hopeful stayed. The hopeful or stupid. As older users left, newer users came. Born into the fires, they never knew the world that existed before them. They never knew how perfect it had all once been. And they didnt understand why the older users who had stayed hated them. We were wrong for hating them. They didnt know any better. When we were telling them to piss off and were trying to keep old gtq alive through force, we should have been keeping it alive inside and out. Whenever someone new showed up, we should have tried again to show them our utopia, not our slums.
This site is broken. Like I said, the older users have lost hope. I've lost hope. There's no going back. There's no fixing this. -
