"Nothing. Remember anything else?" she asked.
-
"I had a dream... You were in it, but it was all... mixed up." He strained to recall the details.
-
Her eyes widened. "Really?"
-
He nodded. "And I was kneeling... Then you said yes... And that you loved me too... Then you whispered my name, and I woke up."
-
She nodded slowly. "That would be the proposal I was talking about..."
-
"It's all coming back in pieces. All I can remember about you is that... I don't remember anything else except that I learned how to ride a bike when I was little... And that I graduated from college." He sighed in frustration. "I hate not knowing things... And I still feel like there's something big I'm missing."
-
"Nothing about any other parts of childhood or the past few years?" She stared at him.
-
Eric shook his head, frowning. "No... Nothing... Other than knowing that I was happier than I'd ever been."
-
She smiled a bit. "Well, at least you remember some stuff, right?"
-
Eric nodded slightly. "Yeah. I'm glad I can remember at all. The doctors told me I'd never be able to remember my past. I'm hoping I can prove them wrong."
-
"I hope you can prove them wrong, too."
-
He sat there in silence for a moment. "Maybe this was meant to happen," he said quietly, glancing at Tessa. "Maybe God's trying to prove something to us."
-
"Like what?" She asked quietly.
-
He shrugged. "Maybe He wants to prove that there's always a second chance," he barely whispered, looking into her eyes.
-
She nodded slowly, looking into his eyes.
