He followed her gaze. "If you have to go, by all means, don't let me stop you."
-
"I probably should..." She stood up, giving him a quick kiss. She walked to the door, pausing and looking back at him. "See you tomorrow. Goodnight, Eric. Love you."
-
"Goodnight," he said. A voice in the back of his mind urged him to add another sentence. I love you too.
-
She left the hospital and drove home.
-
Eric sighed and buried his face in the pillows. He lay awake, thinking.
-
When she got home, she placed the keys on the table and went into the bedroom to put on a pair of pajamas. Knowing that Eric wouldn't be there that night... The bed didn't look so comfortable anymore.
-
It was odd, not knowing who others were, let alone barely remembering himself. He shut his eyes, trying to picture himself a day earlier, what he might have been like. He got nothing.
-
She changed and walked out and sat on the couch, turning on the TV. She flipped through the channels tiredly, not really paying attention. She turned off the TV and went to bed.
-
Eric hated how he'd ruined other people's lives. He despised how he couldn't love Tessa the way she loved him... He fell asleep after a while.
-
She lay awake for a while, thinking about Eric and hoping he'd get his memory back soon. Eventually she fell asleep.
-
Eric woke up the next morning to the hustle and bustle of nurses down the hall. He yawned, glancing around the room.
-
The next morning, Tessa woke up. She felt as if she'd barely slept at all.
-
It took him a second to recall why he was here. You've been Ina car crash... A nurse walked in, handing him a cup of orange juice.
"Good morning, Eric. Did you get a good night's rest?" He nodded quietly, taking a sip of the juice. It was acidic, burning his throat slightly as he swallowed. -
She stared up at ceiling of the bedroom, slightly confused to why Eric wasn't there. When she remembered where he was, she frowned. Oh, right. The hospital. With barely any memory.
-
The nurse walked in, disconnecting his IV and prepping him for being discharged from the hospital.
