"No one ever accused him of being stupid.." she muttered, and sprang up. She began pulling carefully stacked luggage cases from the closet and tossing her clothes into them.
"He'll be here any minute. Hm.. since I'm leaving anyway, I should tell you, yeah, I was the hacker." -
(I have to leave now. Be back next weekend. Bye! )
-
"Then I can't let you leave," I said, trying to stop her from putting clothes in her suitcase.
-
(Bye. See ya then.)
-
There.
-
Your turn, then.
-
(kay.)
Sorrow continued to throw clothes and small possessions into the cases.
"Sure you can. You're an intern, aren't you? You have no responsibility to hold me up. So don't say 'can't' as though it's your job." -
"B-but..." I was supposed to stop her, wasn't I? I mean, it was kinda important...
-
Sorrow paused with a brush poised to toss in, looking over at Julie.
"In all honesty, you couldn't stop me if you tried. I've a knife and several tranquilizing, er, methods. I have to leave now. And you need to be gone when he shows up." she said, and threw the brush in. -
"Uh..." I didn't exactly know what to do, or say, or anything for that matter.
-
Sorrow gave the confused-looking girl an apologetic look.
"I'm sorry. What a terrible host I make. I apologize for that. But you must go." -
"Um..." I rushed out the door, only to run into that guy. Right outside her door. "Erm... hello..."
-
Chain glared down at her, a large snow dog at his feet.
"Hello." he said in a soft, pleasant, lethal voice. "Is Sorrow here?"
Sorrow paled as she listened to his killer's voice ring clearly out in the hall. She could hear every pant of that ravenous dog of his. She moved quickly toward the window, opening it and preparing to leap out. She wondered if she could grab onto window sills below and climb down that way. But as she started trying, she felt a pang of remorse for planning to leave Julie alone with him. She ran back in, walking quietly through the room and standing just within the door, listening to him speak.
"I would so hate to have come all this way just to find you alone in her room. -
"Um... no... she's not in there... she, um, left to get something at the store..." I tried my best to make up a lie, but I'd always sucked at lying.
-
Chain gently lifted his hand, hushing the dog at his heels that had begun to growl at the lie. It tried to nose it's way through the door, but he held it back, and took Julie's face gently in his hand.
"Now, now. Do you honestly believe it's that easy to lie to me? I've been trained to recognize this, you see, and you give it away so easily.." he whispered these words like a threat in her ear, and released his grip on the dog's collar. It's lithe body shot straight to the door and pressed against it with it's front paws, opening it and running inside.
