My family (excluding my grandparents) are not at all religious. But, we still put up the Christmas tree every year and make gingerbread houses.
To us, Christmastime is the time where you can say, here in Canada:
HELLLLLLLLLLL YA NO SCHOOL AND IT ISN'T A SNOW DAY. WHOOOOOOOO! -

if i could i'd buy u something nice...
but my parents said i have to be certified in CPR before i can babysit. -

I'm also mmiddle class, pretty well off. Or at least with my Dad xP
We're not so well off with my Mom, if you catch my drift, so I don't ask for anything. :) -

Hmm. I don't get an allowance, which is fine by me: cleaning the house, your room, doing dishes: it's regular work. In your house. Why the hell should you get paid for it?
