How do y'all pick your OC names?

Thread Topic: How do y'all pick your OC names?

I often search up the meanings of names. Say, my character is a vampire, I would search up dark or creepy names and pick my favourite or the one that closely aligns with the character. Same with the surname, but more often I would pick an uncommon surname that sounds good with the first name. What do you guys do?

Sometimes if I'm feeling lazy, I take a random word and butcher the heck out of it until it looks right

I look on baby name websites

sometimes I look up old composers names since they sound so cool. Or sometimes I just look up science and fantasy words and make it look and sound like a legit name. Like Terran is the scientifical name for human so I could make it a name for a human character in a fantasy or sci-fi setting.

i just pick randomly

I make them up, using whatever influences me and just my brain... Such as my fursona (furry persona) Zye:just my brain, or my WoF OC Heron:used what the thing is named after

sometimes i just find a random pokémon with a pretty name and twist it around until it sounds like an actual name. or i look on fantasy name generators… or i steal them..

i just plop a common name onto them and call it goods lol

i basically, just pick randomly most of the time, but if I feel creative i make one of my own. -
I just think of one on the top of my head
The results have been disappointing so far, don't try it XD
(Unless you wanna get names like Derek or Trevor haha) -
ocs that i make nowadays kinda start around one theme, item or trait and expand into a person so i like to trace back to that one thing and find names with similar meanings

My current RP character's name is Edith. I like the name Edith because it is a cross between Eden and Lilith and I really love the iconography that induces.
My character is a spiritual healer. In a lot of ways I think this OC is a way for me to reconcile with childhood trauma and channel my feelings about divine feminine energy.
A lot of her attributes and values are similar to my own. Her character arc is socially awkward and isolated to secure and expressive.
